Mono-Brand Wardrobe - Topic of the day 6/12/24
If money were no object and you could only have one brand represented in your wardrobe, what brand would it be and why? Is it aesthetics, function, tactile feel, brand loyalty, sustainability, or something else (feel free to ignore things like undergarments or highly specialized gear)? To what extent is such an approach even viable? Feel free to include pictures of any specific garments that would be essentials for or grails in this mono-brand wardrobe.

I might just have to answer with Abercrombie as much as I want to pick something that sounds cooler
Actually Kapital but that's also not realistic at all. Also Acne. Both of those brands has a lot of basics + interesting items
not viable unless you live in a more balanced climate ig :xd:
My wardrobe feels like 70% Uniqlo + Abercrombie and then one offs from different brands so it's hard to envision a mono wardrobe
Rick Owens, actually. There's a lot of stuff in there that's extremely boring that you can pass off as normal when you need to, you just don't see it on fits all that often (and it's harder to recognize when you do). It's largely found on Yoox and Glamood, etc., if not direct/on the main site.
I think the easy/boring answer here is comme, just due to the insane quantity of clothing they make. They truly are the GAP of designer fashion like they do it all and do it well. Other goth and/or japanese designers are certainly viable but i think i'd feel too fussy or done up in my day to day to actually be content with it.
Yeah i agree with Sal, Comme would be easily do-able and would be my choice too. You could even stick to only CdGH without any of the sub lines and have a huge selection from super boring to avant
You could actually do it for “cheap” too given the JP secondhand market
if money were no object, lemaire easily. plenty of "basics" but with enough variation and cool stuff to not get bored
the fact that their "suiting" includes lots separates in matching fabric helps
Polo Ralph Lauren
Acne, also due to the variety of style throughout the years and the sheer quantity of clothes
Also the fact that they have basics and statement pieces
Orslow, only issue is i’d be stuck in the weird malibu sandals.
Ya Acne cause range, agree with Char
even though I don't own any acne currently I'm pretty sure I could emulate my current style somewhat easily using their clothes
If we include diffusion absolutely lol, CdG, Acne, and MM all would be pretty easy if you include their diffusion lines for just about anyone
Loewe
I'm fine with taking the logo t-shirt pill for lazy days if I made money no object
I guess it's easier to dress down than dress up, so maybe something like Acne or You Must Create or A Kind of Guise since they do a wide range including footwear and some suiting. Plus lots of interesting pieces and I get the small dopamine hit of new patterns each season
Lemaire no question. Large amount of seasonal beautiful pieces. Runner up being Evan Kinori, because of less selection.
i just found out snowpeak has a blazer so theyre also a strong contender, even if i would really only wear the yak pile stuff https://www.snowpeak.com/collections/outerwear/products/active-comfort-jacket
Snow Peak
Active Comfort Jacket
The Active Comfort Jacket is a lightweight and stretchable blazer. The material features a blend of polyurethane and recycled nylon, with a fluorine-free DWR treatment. This environmentally-conscious combination of materials offers water resistance, quick dry capabilities, and ample stretch, making it an ideal light jacket for inclement weather ...
The right answer is Drake's
Im not gonna be practical about it and say husbands paris, even though that would lock me in to a rather specific look
On the other hand they have MTO, so there would be a lot of variety
RRL would be fun
This question is genuinely hard because I have a few moods that I operate with. Lemaire is probably the brand I could see myself being most happy with only rocking. Runners up would be Evan Kinori, Auralee, MotivMFG, and Kapital.
Honorable mention for Nigel Cabourn I think
If you are spending Drakes money there’s much more interesting stuff even in that same vein though
Idk depends on what "interesting" means. Their conservative approach to stuff is what interests me
Cole haan
Yeah they’d be good for high end formal or business casual wear
Idk how well they would translate to more casual though
I think the question is hard because its so limiting as a way to dress.
Yeah I mean if you’re just going for nice looking, but very traditional ivy they are good
Depends on the brand
Yeah realistically this question is my actual worst nightmare
true, and if you love the style, Rick or Yohji make a sort of sense to me
Yeah
But it's still a limitation
And brands like margiela or acne have huuuuge catalogs
With a giant variety
Two people can have full margiela wardrobes and have it look completely different
I'm with Char
My spicy take is I think other than the ranch cardigans and some outerwear, I think other brands do RRL better: Wythe, Freewheelers, Brycelands, Barbanera, Freenote, Mister Freedom…
but the cardigans tho
RRL was tempting because of the cardigans and double denim but that's one that feels super limiting to me
???
Just pick RL
Oh for sure you're buying into full yeehaw for the most part
you get PRL, RRL, and purple label
it would be extremely easy
Yeah okay if this is an option I’m picking that
Im not old money enough for purple label.. sends the thread into a death spiral
if we're playing that game then most people would say RL
ya cause MFA is boring
more at 11
I would assume a brand includes its diffusion lines
like when people says CDG they don't mean just mainline
we already established that
like heckle said you could probably do fine with just CdGH
I could see Margiela or Acne being perfect for you
I'd pick Acne or MM forsure
probably Acne
I could do 4S but idk what I'd do if (when) they fail
plus lack of variety
SFC if the import cost isn't a factor 🤔
money is no object
I’d do our legacy but same it’s too limiting
My aesthetic is like between eckhaus latta and our legacy lmao
Also you can probably do undercover
Hot take you can do supreme
undercover bricks a lot lol
Undercover is so big
Supreme would be doable but annoying
So many lines
too much at the whim of the designer
I disagree they release a lot of stuff
Like a lot
i know
im a supreme fan
I'm saying it would be annoying because they vary so much in quality depending on who is their designer
I legit can 100% do Zara
like this season fell off a cliff from Tremaine Emory's stint
And yall wouldn’t even be able to tell
Also wearing all Supreme would be kinda boring real quick
Yeah I generally dress pretty conservatively anyway. I like simple colors, patterns and silhouettes. They always work lol
I own more stuff by like, Neighborhood than I do RL 🗾
Gonna start asking “Zara?” on all of your fits
This is Zara/BR/Zara/Cos/Guidi lmao
I’m gonna stick with my original answer of Lemaire. It’s close enough to my current style, just better. Still somewhat basic, but not boring (to me)
undercover archives alone is a lot of heat, dont even need the more stinky collections
fair
I couldn't do it because none of those jeans are fitting my lanky euro ass
In a fantasy world where money is no object, we can assume sizing is no concern
Sensible option: Levis
Silly goose option: fuck it, Hamcus, it's nearly the apocalypse anyway
Yeah, sfc is a hot contender
junya or yohji, ez
For me I would choose Evan Kinori or Ann Demeulemeester. Two totally different aesthetics that I love. EK would be the more comfy of the two, so I lean toward that.
Stoffa would be absolutely amazing. Slouchy casual chic all day long.
I’ve gotten several things from Freenote Cloth lately. I couldn’t use them for all occasions, as they don’t have business attire, but apart from that, I could live pretty comfortably wearing their stuff exclusively. They even have pretty extensive footwear options
Lately I only buy stoffa and wythe. If I had to choose between the two, it’d be stoffa.
Evan kinori, the anthology, and RL as runner ups. In my past life j. Crew was like 80% of my wardrobe
if j.crew consistenly sold the giant chino and giant oxford for a third of the price they would be a viable contender
But money is no object so they are
I’d pick Brut Clothing. I don’t own anything from them (yet) but their styling and POV really speaks to me.
money is no object but they are not worth $90 lol
😄
if money was no object i'd just expand my brand and only wear clothes i made
Acronym for fall/winter
Visvim for spring/summer
Thug club all year
I own a couple brut items, fantastic quality. It’s basic but it’s done well and the whole truthful reproduction adds an interesting aspect. they do cool collabs too
that’s awesome. I’m planning on eventually picking something up when they have another sale
Brut has been poppin up on my ig ads and their stuff looks great :401k:
their styling on their IG really makes it pop for me! it’s great inspo
I kinda done this lol. it started because I was spending too much time browsing retailers/shops sites all over the place looking for stuff. it worked
