What is it with Scandi-Shoe brands and unpronounceable names? Anyhow I came across this site and it looks pretty good. They offer a lot of different gyw shoes at quiet good prices. I was just wondering if anyone here had some experiences with them and if so how happy they are with their shoes

I’ll hazard a guess and it’s pronounceable in Scandinavian languages
I looked into them at one point. I think I landed on Cavour's house brand at the time bc they were having a sale.
I think I messaged them about sizing and determined that the lasts just wouldn't work for my foot but their stuff seems solid from what I've seen. They're on my short list of EU budget GYW brands.
I'd also check out TLB Mallorca and Lof & Tung
TLB Mallorca is more expensive. Lof & Tung seems nice but their styles currently seem a bit limited what I like about Skolyx is the amount of differnt styles they offered. For example I'm currently looking for dark brown penny loafers which I can't find currently from Meermin. The other simmilar brand I was looking at is Myrqvist
oh and Berwick
btw. is your list of EU budget GYW brands written down somewhere?
I’m still breaking mine in
not necessarily unpronounceable but makes me think of the two (separate!) swedish brands myrqvist and granqvist
oh and there is also another swedish brand called sandqvist lol
Yeah those were the brands I was refering to
btw. it is weird how none of these brands do a dark brown non-suede derby without broguing
and qvist
qvist means branch
at least the all focus on something different, but it’s very confusing when you can’t exactly remember the name of one the brands and you want to google it lol
yeah sorry I was mainly talking about the other shoe brand
Thinking of maybe getting this shoe: https://myrqvist.com/en-de/products/stenhammar-dark-brown-calf
Myrqvist
Stenhammar – Dark Brown Calf︱Myrqvist
Designed in Sweden, handcrafted in Portugal, Stenhammar in dark brown calf is an apron fronted penny loafer, Available online and in stores,
@ll.beansandrice Do you have any expirience with Myrgvist
Not directly. Another one of the brands that gets mentioned as a cheaper EU GYW brand.
Those look well constructed, tho I personally think the vamp is kinda high. Morjas is another option but I forget their price point exactly
I think Morjas is at around 350 here.
you are refering to this bit here right?
sorta yeah. Here's an example with a high-vamp on the left and a lower one on the right. I personally prefer lower
This angle in particular makes me think it's kind of high but ofc I've never seen them in person
Yeah I see what you mean. I will def need to order somewhere with a returns policy I guess
Are there any other brands you would recommend?
I think most of the budget list has been mentioned in this thread. If I remember any more I'll drop them here. Obviously usual suspects like 2nd hand Loake and similar are also on the table. Tricker's if you like that style (I forget their pricing currently).
I think Trickers is more in the 500 range
Also thanks for the advice
https://berwickshoes.com/de/9628-k8-rois-braun.html think I'm between the myrqvist and this berwick loafer
Berwick
