Freeboard Feature Request
Hi all! Question about a Freeboard feature request. Before I have had contact with a dev in the Slack server. I can't find who that was. Some backstory maybe how we use Freeboard:
- We operate in the port of Rotterdam and have a fleet of around 50 ships. We use the 'buddy' plugin to give them a color on the map so we can see them quick.
- Our planners use Freeboard to see incoming ships for example
- We have some AIS antennas in the port of Rotterdam that we have connected as data-connection to SignalK
- The devs have allready helped us with some features like the fixed-positiong and the extended time we can now set on 'hide vessels after...'
The request is:
-All vessels on the map have the same color. Is it possible to categorize these ships by shiptype?
- Like in marinetraffic, they give cargo ships a different color then a watership.
- If the above is possible, we would like to filter on these shiptypes. For the planner it isnt necessary to see inland-cargo ships for example.
- Another option for mored vessels; we use the button 'HIDE MORED'. But maybe its possible to make the mored vessels a small dot on the screen? Like theyre there, but just not as invasive as before for the eye.
- The FOCUS function is used alot. It makes the focused vessel red, but it still will get lost quick on a crowded map. Is it possible to put a small flag on the focused vessel? Like its easier to follow?
We know that there are other services like MarineTraffic for all these functions, but we realy like OpenSource and the fact we can use our own AIS-receivers. Also if the external internet is down, we can still use AIS internal, because selfhosted.
Again, thank you all for all the effort that is put in Freeboard. We really enjoy this project that is put together. And we like to hear if this all is possible!
