Really poor performance on 5600xt/3800x setup.

i updated the mod based on the screenshot i just sent and i get much more performance now
i did install ferritecore at the same time so i'm not sure if that helped at all
EDIT: nevermind i guess, it only updated after a restart, so i was using 2.1.0-a in that screenshot.
I'm finding some strange results.
If i open mc for the first time and load up a world ive already been in at 32 medium, i get 160fps+. if i then change my settings to 128 high i get 45fps. but if i then go back to 32 medium i only get 110fps, and if i exit to main menu and load again at 32 medium, i only get 75fps.
does anybody have a clue on what's going on here? can you replicate this? have you had this issue before?
what the f
ive seen that before
you need some staff member on here to look at it, a few of them have seen this before as well
switching back and forth between render distances destroys performance for some reason
Could be world gen starting and stopping affecting fps?
well how would i fix this?
it's really annoying
i don't want to restart the game every time
just so you know, turning off lod generation doesn't improve it at all
Set render distance to something high, like 512, wait for that to load, and then set your render distance back to 256 and turn off distant generation
Oh
Then I don't know
coud you tell some other staff to see if they can replicate this?
I'll test it in a few hours
alright, keep me updated
here, you can see exactly what i'm experiencing
Distant generation can take a minute to fully stop. Can you check if it's really not the issue?
you can see in f3 at the end it says world gen: 0/0
it's finished
Oh yea true
and no, it does not get better if i wait
ok so
someone else used nightly
they had this same starting stopping problem
their log
definitely a problem with that nightly build
had the same thing it just gets this horrible stuttering problem, then goes to 0/0 and just gets in a loop for a while
then it works again (??)
it queues a renderer cleanup
then it instantly decides to do that cleanup
then it gets occupied doing that and just quits doing LoDs until it gets out of that loop
i was not using nightly in this example though.
i was using 2.1.0-a
i've not seen this happen prior to 2.1.0
yeah, i WAS using 2.1.0
try to replicate this with the stable build
puhpine is going to try to replicate it when he can
i have no clue what triggers it
you?
my issue? i sent a video

EDIT: Using a completely clean installation with only the fabric api and dh, this problem does not go away.

other ppl are saying this is a known DH thing
that's something completely different...
ok
gl
im just waiting for someone to replicate this
because it makes it unusable for me
Give me ~2 hours
alright
what mod loader and MC version?
generating some LODs now
You can see that on the top of this thread
1.20.6 fabric
sorry, forgot
i did not notice the same issue
it always jumped back to 320 to 330 fps whenever i switched back to 100 lod distance
and 400 when i switched to 32
that's weird. did you have any other mods or was that a clean installation?
you didn't leave the world and join back though
clean install
oh was that required to reproduce it? oof
i mean it definitely made the problem worse
but you already saw the problem when you just switched between lod distances right?
yes, but it got much worse when i left and joined the world as you can see in my vid
yea thats true
can you try that?
i kinda deleted the instance because im smooth brain
so ill need to regenerate the lods
so it might take some time
alright
same story
didnt see anything weird
this is 1.20.6 fabric
only DH
that's so weird
wth is happening
im gonna get a new gpu on christmas so that hopefully fixes that for me
i wish someone else could replicate it as well
Maybe its related to AMD?
who knows, probably
could you get some staff here or someone that knows a fix? it's very frustrating
if you know someone with a similar setup lmk
me and marijn are staff ðŸ˜
i know you are
if i see someone with a similar issue i will let you know
alright thanks
@Puhpine (GMT +2) just wanted to let you know that I fully reinstalled/reformatted all my drives (including windows) and that issue still persists
i haven't tried 2.1.2a yet
im probably gonna put it on gitlab
Sucks that you still have the issue. As you're the only person still that I've seen with this problem I doubt it's easy to fix
still happens on 2.2.1a fabric
setting to a lower resolution increases fps by a ton, and fps gets worse if you reboot the world after rendering terrain
not maxing out on vram either, and set xmx to 12gb
in that time i entirely reinstalled windows, minecraft, installed and uninstall many different mods, turned off overclocking, used ddu, tried different worlds and other stuff

upgraded to rx 6800 and the issue is gone. maybe try to optimize for rx 5___ series?
and by that i mean navi 10
thats weird. it would be very hard to optimize for rx 5000 if we dont know what the issue was
well im pretty sure it must be intrinsic, because after doing all of those things i said it persisted
