Multiple issues with loading in new chunks and keeping them loaded in.
When playing in a single-player world on a pre-generated map with all settings on default, distant horizons doesn't load in any new chunks whatsoever.
I cranked up the CPU power to "I paid for the whole CPU" and left my character in the same place for about 45 minutes, and when I got back, no new chunks were loaded. The only chunks that are loaded are the ones that get rendered through default render distance. After I've loaded those chunks, they stay there for a long time, but sometimes, only the furthest chunks are loaded, and it creates the effect in the photo, where the middle ones are cut off and I get this "edge of the world" effect.
My modlist is Iris + sodium, Distant Horizons (obviously), Willam Wyther's Expanded Ecosphere (though the pre-generated map is originally from terraforged), Do a Barrel roll, Shoulder Surfing, towns and towers, c2me, noisium, and 2032 world height. Although, this was still happening before installing the 2032 world height mod.
I am on version 1.20.4,

What's your specs
/slowgen
If it feels like LoD generation with
Distant Generator
is too slow:
Try increasing CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)rtx 3060 for the GPU, and the i5-9400f for the CPU
Try disabling distant generation
Since it's a pregrened world
I did try that as well
I followed the instructions that YAGPDB gave me, but I really don't know how to make sense of this information
that big brightly-colored trapezoid moves around with the camera
my cpu usage when I'm not moving is about 50%, including the other things I have open on my computer, but when I start moving, it bounces up to 80-100%
When enabling the wireframe rendering, there's no visible change, other than the fact that the mod seems to be completely disabled
in regards to the ominous trapezoid, I think I accidentally enabled a wrong setting, because upon resetting each setting to defaults and restarting, the ominous trapezoid had disappeared
