SignalK-Polar

#plugins-and-webapps Anyone using the signalK-polar plugin https://github.com/joabakk/signalk-polar and can give some advice as to why I do not see any data in it? Only like this:

You may want to look at this one as well if you have an existing polar already: https://github.com/htool/signalk-polar-performance-plugin (which can display on the B&G MFD through a main menu tile)

I'm looking at it @HansT ! I have a one-off so I'm looking for a way to generate my own dynamic polar. I use yours based on similar type of boat. I do run into a problem though. The green dot for polar speed is visible, but I can not see the blue for boat speed.

Boat speed requires STW. The plugin config allows to use SOG. If you turn on debug mode it should also tell more about what's missing. I was planning to add the dynamic bit too, but didn't get around to it. My idea was mostly to do it all in memory and not rely on SQLite which introduces a lot of dependencies and build time. Basically a 3d array which slowly builds the polar.

Hi again Hans! The signalk-polar-performance-plugin throws up this: Failed to start: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'twa') Ahhhhh - nevermind - solved it. Had written Twa, not twa when adding polar Still can't see the blue dot for boat speed though...

and if you change the SOG setting in the config? green uses TWA to determine max boat speed blue uses boat speed to plot it

Reinstallled it all and now it seems to be working. Next step is to get the tiles up and running. I am running my signalk on a RPI4. When I add IP addresses as you state in your instructions, signalK is dropped from the NMEA source list

How do you actually link the polar performance and BandG performance plugins to the Triton 2. I have both plugins configured to send the polars PGNs but do not seem to be able to find them as a source on the Triton setup.

What kind of connection do you have between SignalK and the N2k network? I use a Pican board that allows to write custom PGNs

I am using the MacArthur HAT

That should work. So when you enable the different paths to send, you should see them under 'SignalK' data on the Triton2. candump should be able to show the outgoing packets as well.

To be honest, a few instructions on setup would be very much appreciated. I am not even sure I am connecting in signal k properly. Do you have any notes. I have the polar performance plug in installed and the bandg plug in. The polar plugin appears to give the correct diagram. How then do I link this to the bang performance plugin? I have the bandg performance plugin setup with H5000 emulation enabled and the default 14 for the device I'd. I then enabled the 'heading on opposite tack' 'polar boat speed' 'polar performance' 'vmg'. The server log is just throwing errors

Sorry, after playing with the connections, that log is from a different plugin. I can now see the signal k input on the Triton. Still not sure though what to do as the data on the Triton appears blank, I set the configuration to 014. Any tips ??

1. So one plugin is generating the performance data in SignalK (polar performance plugin). In the config you enable the paths you want to generate. 2. Using the SignalK 'data browers' you can see if get generated correctly. 3. Then, using the 'B&G performance PGN plugin' you can create the PGNs that B&G displays can display.

Thanks. I'll give it a go. All working great. I had ticked the 'H5000 emulation' box, so of course the Triton 2 source was H5000 and not signal k.
