Hawaii Routing on Free Plan
Hello, we have a customer that is based in Hawaii and we are looking to get the best latency to his Origin server.
The ISP (Spectrum), the server (Vultr), and Cloudflare are all in Hawaii and based on traceroutes they all appear to connect to each other in Hawaii. On the free plan, the traffic goes through LAX which is not ideal. Is there any way to get this traffic to stay local to Hawaii and remain on the free plan?

Take a look here to see why the Cloudflare datacenter you are routed towards isn't always the closest geographically: https://www.cloudflare.com/en-gb/learning/cdn/glossary/anycast-network/
Yes, im aware. On paid plans this traffic stays local, I'm looking to see if its possible on the free plan as well.
Not for free. You can optionally subscribe to Argo Smart Routing which probably will help but that will charge you for bandwidth
Gotcha. I was worried that was the case. All of the local traffic is via peering so I feel like it would make more sense than taking Cogent transit to get to LAX. I suppose ill just get a server in LAX. Thanks
