Shirt Fitting Help
hi lads, just wanted to ask a few general questions regarding shirts!
1. For button ups that I intend to wear tucked out, I'm aware the hem should be around mid butt (right?). Are these shirts also appropriate to be worn tucked in as well? I'm concerned that the shirt may come out when I raise my arms.
2. My shoulders are vastly broader than my torso, and I have a polo that fits my shoulders nicely but just drapes over my torso. If I want to wear this polo tucked in, should I get the shirt altered to better fit my torso? There's currently a lot of excess material when I do so and it looks kinda ugly.
For context, I'm 5'5 (165cm) and weigh around 65kg with a fairly muscular build.
Thanks for the advice!

Fit pics would be ideal but I wouldn’t tailor a polo shirt personally
1. Depends entirely on what you’re trying to wear. There are no hard and fast rules. If your pants are higher, you can have a shorter hem.
2. A pic will help but probably not is my first reaction.
Read some articles online that suggested taking in the waist a little
most pics I see have little to no fabric spillover
Pants too slim
eh I'm not too worried about the pants
more concerned with the shirt
but yeah I'll look into getting looser pants too
a higher rise of pant will lessen the spillover effect for what it's worth
I don't really enjoy higher waisted pants though
I've also altered several dress shirts to fit my waist and it worked like a charm
so I was wondering if this would be appropriate for a polo as well
You can but doing it with knits fabrics is more difficult
This, and less slim fitting pants (I know you’re not interested but bear with me) will balance better with the looser polo.
Agree with the other advice here but if you're set on that, just get a MTM polo from Proper Cloth or something
