Oxfords Shoes

Opinions on Allen Edmonds vs Beckett and Simonon for Oxfords? Allen Edmonds are on sale for memorial day right now, thinking about picking up either their factory second plain toe (https://www.allenedmonds.com/product/mens-factory-second-carlyle-plain-toe-oxford-3024568/black-ec4011632) or 5th Ave Cap Toe (https://www.allenedmonds.com/product/mens-fifth-avenue-cap-toe-oxford-dress-shoe-3022856/black-ec4001404). Both are 200+$ though, and Beckett Simonon has a 2 for 320 (ie 160 each) sale right now (https://www.beckettsimonon.com/products/dean-oxford?variant=29464404885583). Recommendations? Shoes will be mainly for working in a suit-and-tie office environment. Also, not sure about the plain toe - for some reason I feel like I normally see some kind of cap toe 90% of the time.

I would vote cap toe yeah. AE is solid but I remember the leather sometimes feeling pretty hard new. If you check out ebay you might get a good deal on some 5th aves in good condition. I dont have any experience with Beckett Simonon tho

Cap toes for sure. If AE fits you I prefer them but they’re the most difficult shoe to fit I’ve ever encountered

I have both, I’d rather have seconds of AE then first of BS. And I like BS, when you’re wearing low ones like that that are always close to your feet the quality matters. AE can help with width to get the right hug on your foot and that’s better if your feet aren’t average.
