Quick Question

Hey guys, i’m planning to sell an application running on railway, is it possible that the new owner gets the login and then changes all info including billing? Please get back to me at your earliest convenience, thanks!
Solution:
the correct procedure for this would be to ask your client to create a Pro account, then you would transfer your entire Railway project to their account

if you have an agreement to continue working on the project for them, they would then also need to add you to their pro workspace

Ah i see, so i’m selling the email associated with the account as well lets just say [email protected] the application is currently running on this email if they have access to this email account can they change the info? just trying to make the transition as seamless as possible for them!

I do see where you're coming from, but I don't think having to go in to the account and change out your credit card is seamless since it would be your credit card on the account during handoff, and it would then be you who paid for that seat price

I see, appreciate the response. would there be any downtime during this transition with your proposed solution? Also, the person acquiring the application is a friend of mine so im a bit less concerned about the cc!

there would be zero downtime, under the hood the database is just being updated with the new owner of the project, no services are stopped. may I ask if your friend will be profiting off this application you have wrote for them? if so, they will need to be on Pro, otherwise hobby is fine.

Okay awesome, thanks for letting me know! Yeah its a small application im running right now on the Hobby plan ($5/mo + scaling costs)

if you profit off something being hosted on the platform you would generally need to be on the Pro plan, you can ask your friend to go to https://railway.app/new/team and the sign up process is super easy they give you the email they used to sign up, you transfer the project, they check their emails to accept the transfer, and done

Great! so just to be sure there will be no downtime? i have a postgresqlDB & App linked in the project thats the only thing that scares me a bit! and also do i have to have the pro plan as well to transfer? my apologies for the extra questions!

there will be no downtime, and because of that fact, once you transfer the project over to your friend on the pro plan, the services in that project will still only be able to use the hobby resources since it's just updating the owner of the project, on the next deployment of those services they will then be allocated the pro plan's resources

Appreciate the reassurance haha, thank you so much for your help man!

also, you're on a paid plan, thats the only requirement to be able to transfer
