Sport Coat/Blazer Colors for a Capsule Wardrobe
Hi. I've bought Uniqlo's comfort jackets in Navy and Dark Gray (https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E449621-000/00?rrec=true&colorDisplayCode=08&sizeDisplayCode=004).
I like them and I'm now looking for a 3rd entry level sports coat to mix things up. My goal is to have a versatile rotation of coats for 4 days a week in the office.
I was considering the Uniqlo airsense blazer in gray (https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E448034-000/00?colorDisplayCode=05&sizeDisplayCode=003).
Is this too much overlap? Looking for any recommendations.

i would question whether you need a third blazer of similar color and weight in a "capsule wardrobe"
if your goal is "i like blazers and would like another" i would get one for fall, either in tweed or herringbone, and either brown, tan or a dark brown
if your goal is "i wish to have a capsule wardrobe that is versatile" then you get more utility from having an extra shirt or shirts, which can be worn casually or formally
as long as you aren't wearing the exact same combination of items each day i don't think you would (or should) be judged
Okay. That's a fair distinction. I just want a rotation with enough variety. I do like blazers and would like another but it's reassuring that I don't absolutely need to right now. Regarding herringbone and tweed in a lighter gray, is that for fall/winter only?
Also, with only a dark gray blazer, am I okay if I don't have a mid gray blazer?
herringbone and tweed ate heavier fabrics suited for cool weather, regardless of color
and whether it's "okay" or not to own a dark gray blazer depends on everything else in your wardrobe
if you are comfortable with outfit repeating then you can probably do without it
if you can't reliably pair said blazer with other things in your wardrobe you probably do not need to spend the money on it
Ya I just have 2-3 dress shirts/ocbds, and a handful of chinos in light gray, dark gray, navy, khaki and olive (but I've been told olive doesn't work well with my skin tone).
And solid T-shirts in various colors.
i would invest in an extra ocbd or two personally
If you ask for a true capsule wardrobe, a navy hopsack blazer and a grey tweed herringbone jacket is all you need. If you live in hot climate, a tan linen or poplin blazer would be good too.
Okay, thanks for the advice. I also have a lot of sweaters and 2 cardigans.
I guess perhaps I should have corrected as capsule 2.0 or something.
see how you feel for a few weeks rotating through the two blazers and everything else you own
consider if you like certain combinations more, or how often you do laundry, or how often you think "i could really use another blazer" before taking the plunge and buying another one
