DH crashes when toggling LOD Rendering if shaders are enabled
Using Iris 1.7, Fabric 15, and the latest nightly builds of DH. Replicates on a clean build, or builds with mods. Any DH-enabled shader will cause this error.

I have not seen that error before but it may be better to ask in dh discord because it seems that it is a dh problem
I did, Mods there told me to check here since it's triggering only when shaders are enabled, and regardless of specific shader. They were also able to replicate it
Do you have more info than just that one stack trace? We prefer a full game log as it may contain the actual cause of the issue.
I have this problem too
[23:22:03] [Render thread/ERROR]:
Unexpected Renderer error in render pass [TRANSPARENT]. Error: Cannot invoke "com.seibel.distanthorizons.coreapi.util.math.Mat4f.store(java.nio.FloatBuffer)" because "value" is null
java.lang.NullPointerException: Cannot invoke "com.seibel.distanthorizons.coreapi.util.math.Mat4f.store(java.nio.FloatBuffer)" because "value" is null
it's not any other mods as I have tried with them all disabled
any ideas?
Will be very useful if we get the full game logs.
How to get a log file:
Game logs can be found in the
logs
sub-directory in .minecraft on clients, or the logs
sub-folder of the server directory for servers. We're probably interested in the file named latest.log
, which you can drag and drop into Discord.Tag requested by hardester
Let me grab a clean build log, gimme a few.
1.20.1, Fabric 15.11
This was with Bliss shaders, but I can dupe with BSL and Shrimple as well.
Sure is peculiar. DH renderer did crash immediately upon loading up a shader pack. Are all these shaders the DH supported versions of each?
Yup
Double checked each personally to make sure
Load in with shaders enabled, everything is peachy. But if you turn off DH rendering while shaders are enabled, that's when it crashes.
Try...
:linus:
Well that explains...
Somehow, disabling DH rendering causes the renderer to crash when shaders are enabled. Even I experienced it first hand, didn't bother to file a report or explore this bug further.
Mmhm, have replicated it consitently on 5 different PCs so far
Try disabling DH rendering with shaders disabled, see if that still triggers DH renderer crash. I haven't tested that one yet.
Nope, works flawlessly.
I already tested that thoroughly.
It only crashes while shaders are enabled
I tested that in a 500 mod build with no issues even
Alright, pinging @IMS to explore this issue.
Key point for IMS to read up.
Tagging this to make sure it gets seen by relevant people
I had this same thing happen instantly upon installing 2.1.0 and disabling DH rendering while shaders were on
For me, that resulted in the sky trailing
Dude, how, I literally did everything I could to make the renderer crash and I couldn't 🤣
