You're going to struggle.
There is a HUGE lack of ports from common plugins to mods
there's basically no anticheats
no good moderation tools
the fabric port of CoreProtect is semi-limited
WorldGuard doesn't exist nor does GP, closest you'll get is openpac parties and claims
DeluxeMenus, nope
no FAWE (there is WE tho)
I also don't know if there's a "good" essentials plugin
yeah
I mean essentials is a little janky in itself but still
There's a fabric port?
Or do you mean ledger
yes
sorry
the server is private, friends only. i need something to replace core protect (even friends can be dicks sometimes), i understand for fabric this is ledger. basically i want more mobs (friendly, hostile and neutral), more life in the game. i am considering things like cobblemon as an example. i also want to be able to build more details into my builds so something like chisel and bits as an example would be great. so custom models and so on. paper has been fine up until now, but the things i want either cost a small fortune on that platform or just seem like it cant be done.
does your friends want to install these mods?
in what respect?
There’s nice claiming mods, but it’ll require ur friends to also download them
these are all things that people want have said they want, so i would assume where client and sever is required we will all download what we must
Have u decided yet on fabric or forge
nope, my experience has only ever been with paper
forge seems to have more mods, but fabric is more customisable, is that right ?
Yes and no
Forge has more mods, but not as much on newer versions. Fabric runs a lot smoother
Fabric has significantly better performance mods as well
So the decision just depends on what mods u want
I’d recommend scrolling thru modrinth and just picking a mod pack. Then adding some server side mods to it like ledger
my core requirement is more life
mobs, pets, animals
well if they already agreed to want to download them its no issue, its just having everyone download the same things
theres 6 of us, its a very small thing
are u wanting to keep the same world from your paper server?
ideally, yes, i have alresdy built a lot of farms and stuff
i dont want to erase everyones progress
I forget, but what does fawe do that we doesn't?
FAWE = Fast Async World Edit
WE = WorldEdit
it's in the name
Ah, kk
I had forgotten what the fawe acronym stood for
Sorry
issue is that if you migrate from vanilla to forge/fabric, mods that add new chunk generation won't have new generation in chunks that have already been generated
you could use tools to delete chunks that people haven't spent much time in and regenerate the rest of the world
yea, i would be able to do that fairly easilly
