Can some1 help me with DNS? (Minecraft server)
I have a Minecraft server, but when I want to connect to it, I have to input my IP and port.
I bought a domain, that I also use for my website, and I was wondering if I could shorten the input by my domain. so it would be something like: play.example.com.
I'm okay if someone link me a tutorial, but if something won't work ill mention it here

i set it like this
but i got this
it doesn't say unknow host so i think it's an Improvement
The IP address you're using there is a local address, so it will only work on your local network. You will need to port forward the 25565 port, then use your public IP.
in my port settings?
ok
It depends on your router where the setting is
i have my ip on 25565
192.168.0.188:25565
this
192.168.0.188 is a local IP address, that only works on the computers on the same network. If you want people outside of your house to be able to play on the server, you will need to port forward.
If you Google "port forward minecraft" I'm sure you'll get a good tutorial for how to do that
I have that running on other computer. I tried connecting with vpn and it worked idk
Doesn't change the fact that 192.168.x.x are Private IP Addresses. That means they are only accessable in your local home network or VPN.
How you have it rn (Private IP)
How it should be Public IP
i get it
but
I don't have static IP, is that a problem?
Hey guys
if anyone is still alive in this thread, I'd like the same but for IPV6 ?
my ipv6 is correctly opened to the world my friends can connect but I cannot setup it on cloudflared (I gotta add 25565 port at the end) but it tells me this ain't a valid ipv6
which I guess is right, but how can I do ?
tried with SRV no chance either
You can try using something like ngrok?
https://ngrok.com/docs/using-ngrok-with/minecraft/
Minecraft | ngrok documentation
Minecraft requires the use of an ngrok TCP tunnel to share your server with others. Use ngrok tcp 25565 to open a TCP tunnel on the default Minecraft port. You can then use the address provided to connect to your Minecraft server.
Yes it could be a problem but you can use how bendy said ngrock or a DynDNS
okay cool, can you help me with that?
with DDNS?
Never used DDNS
and the ngrok?
Same
:/
what about a program that will monitor my dynamic ip and like forword it to a host name?
I wrote my own program that updates the IP every 5-15 min

ok
i don't know if i mentioned it here
but
im alerdery using play.codelogic.tech
but it's only localhost
bcs i didnt open my port yet
and be free to ping me
I did the same but used Cloudflared tunnels
But before you use it check your ISPs contracts because some of them don't allow that
