sneaker recommendations
Can you guys recommend a sneaker under $150 that comes in black/white, and is somewhat capable for running? Right now I'm considering the Vans knu skool, adidas campus 00s, Nike p6000 and the asics gel NYC. I currently have new balance 574 cores and they aren't my favorite so I'm not sure if I want to get another pair from them. Also I don't want any shoes specifically made for running as they kinda look ugly, and I have already had air force 1s, vans old skools, air max 90s as well so I don't really wanna go back. Thanks

Hmm. Can you explain why you want something you can run in, but NOT shoes that are designed for running?
Also, what don't you like about the NB 574s? New Balance was the first thing that came to mind for "shoes that look decent that you can run in"
would not recommend doing actual running in fashionable sneakers. get running shoes for running and sneakers for getting fits off
there are some good looking shoes like nb99x and hokas that are "designed" as running shoes that miiight be suitable for running, but I really would not recommend that without speaking to a physical therapist or at the very least someone at your local running store first, to ensure you're not gonna mess up your gait and your feet. that can cause life-long problems, you really don't wanna mess with your health
The New Balance 1906 or 2002 might fit the bill
I don't like their designs, and I'm not a serious runner I just want to do more cardio
I feel like they got destroyed hella quick, I'm gonna get a brush for suede shoes to try cleaning them
what kind of cardio? I think some people lift weights in converse canvas sneakers, but that's a fairly particular thing.
Running
If u want I can explain more in depth how I feel about each of those shoes I listed
ok. don't run in bad shoes or you'll fuck up your feet. does that put it in simple enough terms for you?
Yeah
Well some shoes aren't bad they just aren't made for running
Swimming too but that doesn't affect shoes
This. Get some running shoes. Run in them. Get some cute sneakers, :post: :fit:
ok good - so get the vans, adidas, nikes or asics, whichever you like best (post pics here if you want feedback), and get a 2nd pair to actually run in
Ok maybe
:okee:
It depends how much I actually wanna run, I intend to do alot of swimming this summer so
I can maybe just replace running with swimming
I look for running shoes on sale, and you can often get them quite cheap, if you don't mind weird colors. Which I actually prefer.

they're ugly as sin for anything but running but they're black and white and running sneakers
Anyways I'm gonna list my reasoning for those 4 shoes
Adidas: only one of these that I instantly understood the design of, I feel like they will go with anything I wear, my only concern is that the shoes being all suede concerns me as my current shoes have some suede and it gets hella dirty
Vans: tbh I probably won't get these, they are just similar enough to the adidas for cheaper but not much cheaper
Nike: these grew on me, I feel like they would be less versatile but still nice
Asics: also grew on me heavily, they seem to be a better version of the Nikes
Basically if the campus are comfortable when I try them on and I can manage cleaning them I will get them
get a suede cleaning kit
Yeah I will
I realized that water doesn't clean suede lol
Another concern with the adidas is that I feel like those will become the next basic sneaker/they are just plain generic
these are the adidas you're looking at?
Yes those
And also when I think about how cool they're gonna be my mind remembers the other ones I mentioned
don't run in those lmao
Yeah that was a concern but if all those shoes I listed suck for running then if those are good
Also my fav shoes I hadthe past couple years were prob air max 90s cuz they lasted hella long
yeah the sneakers you're looking at are fine, I just wouldn't run in any of them
what about Salomon XT-6s?
They look good, and were originally intended to be trail runners
Too expensive and kinda ugly
Are the p6000s and asics really bad for running? I heard they are casual running sneakers
Dunno. The p6000s look like they might work.
Everyone is different. I just really can't recommend starting running in anything but running sneakers. It's a great way to get injured
same with the asics
yeah the campus sneakers are cool. get those and a pair of runners
but we are all in agreement here. Get running shoes for running.
Ok
Then what are good cheap running shoes if I ever want them
And I still gotta try these on but I might just not get the asics and probably won't get the vans
You think they will become as basic as the sambas or dunks? I do really like the design but dont want them being the next basic white girl shoe
I've been wearing New Balance Fresh Foam 880s. Look for sales.
For running my vote is to go to a local running store and try pairs on. They'll often do a free gait analysis and help you pick the type of shoe that will work for you. You can then get last year's model from them or online for much cheaper
hit up nordstrom rack or sacks off fifth or clearance at local running store
you don't need to do gait analysis for chill running, certainly not if you don't know if you need any special stuff for your stride etc
but I will back up everyone that said get running shoes
for the love of god get running shoes to run lest you do permanent damage to your body so you can save a hundred bucks on the front end
Ok so I will probably get the campuses and running shoes if I want to do running
But I will probably do swimming
More
Obviously the campuses are fine for walking long distances right
as long as they don't hurt your feet, everyone is different
Ok
remove "serious" from this sentence
Ok
you will still mess up your feet if you are "unseriously" running in shit shoes lol
yes, the problem is not distance, its impact. Running is much more high impact than walking.
If the thing you're doing is "going for a run" rather than like "running to catch the bus" you need running shoes
How I imagine the fashion side is that the campuses would look good with cargo shorts for example but if I wore the p6000s with cargo shorts I'd look like a dad
your foot health is more important than fashion
Well I might not do any running
also what would you like to look like, specifically?
This is my main reference image
Unrelated but I love lil yachty
Basically my opinion on running is that I don't do it RN but I should probably do some form of high intensity cardio during the summer and I'm probably gonna go swimming a lot but running is something I can do all year
So maybe at the end of the summer I invest in running shoes idk
dadcore is in right now
it sounds like you should probably get two pairs of shoes
I still don't want to look like a dad
a pair of your chosen nike
and a pair of running or crosstraining shoes
both will last longer, so you spend less money in replacing them
Ok
Only thing I feel the campus would look bad with is a windbreaker, the p6000 would look kinda unfashionable with any kind of shorts, that's just me imagining it tho
So one of those (probably the campus) and running shoes if I ever wanna do that
