OBS track mattes but not in transitions?

Hai. So I'm trying to achieve something in OBS that feels like it should be straight forward, but despite trawling YouTube for how-tos and fiddling with blending modes and the Advanced Mask and Dynamic Mask filters I have a tiny walnut brain and can't figure out how to do it. I already have a bunch of track matte stinger transitions working nicely, no problem there - but I'm now looking to incorporate the same effect (i.e a black and white video file revealing one source under another) within one scene. Particularly much longer black and white video files. Grateful for any explanations of how this can be achieved like I'm 5 years old, please and thank you.

So you're trying to use sources to define alpha transparency for other sources?

Can use a track matte stinger as a show/hide transition on the sources directly, no?

Thanks for responding. Yes I think that's it - so I'm looking to achieve exactly the same visual effect a track matte stinger gives you (with a black and white video file) when it temporarily combines two different scenes, but within a single scene - for example with a looped black and white video creating a "permanent" track matte between two camera sources. Hope that makes sense, Thanks for responding. So I'm looking to achieve the track matte effect that temporarily combines two scenes as they transition, but independently of scene switching via a transition. I'm after the same visual effect within the one scene - e.g between two camera sources. I will try using the show/hide transition, but with a manually looped video file extended to the duration I need.

The answer is most likely Advanced Masks: https://github.com/FiniteSingularity/obs-advanced-masks

(specifically Source Mask in that plugin) but i see you've been trying that maybe @FiniteSingularity can help you achieve what you're trying to do

Doing a transition effect like that is pretty straight forward with Adv Masks when combined with move. Typically it involves a second “mask” scene where you build up the mask and any animations using move. You can then use that mask scene as an advanced mask source on the two sources you want to transition between. On one source you apply it normally, on the other you apply the inverse mask. Then trigger the move value/move source filters on your mask scene, and you have your transition. (I did a lot of this during my raid train stream, so you might want to check out the VOD)
