Could a zip boot be turned into a gusset?
I've got a pair of cowboy boots with a zip but its a pain to zip it up, wondering if I get it replaced with the stretchy part of a chelsea, thanks!

i wouldn't recommend it. i own a similar pair of shoes, it's a pain to zip, but it's part of the style of that boot.
why wouldnt you recommend it?
it's more expensive than it's worth
keep in mind if you want to change out the zipper for an elastic they're going to have to cut some of the leather out
an unzipped zipper opens up far more than an elastic of the same size will stretch
so if they don't make the elastic bigger it'll be impossible to put on
so you have to consider you're going to end up with an elastic panel at least as big as on a chelsea, if not probably even larger since chelseas are designed with a shaft to accomodate stretching while a zip up wont be
it'll probably cost youj in the range of $200 maybe and no guarantees it will look good since as billiam said, its not the intended design, and two, its not a common operation for a cobbler to do
if you want to do it yourself its probably actually not that hard to do and doesn't require too much in the way of tools, but you'll be gamblign on how well it'll turn out, especially if you don't have any experience sewing leather
I see
so its probably better to just leave it un zippedo n the days i cant zip it
rather than spend a bunch of money on the elastic
Why is it a pain to zip it up?
its just difficult
Sounds like it must be the wrong size for you, or the zipper is busted
It is the right size
it zips
but its just hard
I have to wear slippery socks
and really firmly plant my foot in, and run my ankle adjacent to the zip for it to zip properly
I am somewhat aware they are not fully fitted to my foot quite yet
they're very tight leather
ig I just have to wear them more so they wear in
