T-boy brand recs?

I don’t like the idea of just perusing Instagram and then buying shorts or jeans and hoping they’re nice, so I come bearing the age-old question: Brand recommendations for someone who still very much has a “womanly” figure but wants those masc cuts? This is geared more towards clothing, I have other spaces to go for binding related questions. I’ve been interested lately in Dapper Boi, Kirrin Finch, Wildfang, and Both&, but since I haven’t actually bought from any of them I can’t be 100% sure on quality. Are those good? Are there other brands I’ve been sleeping on?

Possibly Big Bud Press? Less trad menswear-y vibe than the first two brands I looked at but I think their schtick is unisex clothing

I think a lot of higher waisted pants tend to be more forgiving of different body shapes, so if you know your measurements or can measure a pair of pants you own and like the fit of, you could try your hand at some of the house favorite pants here on secondhand sites (polo Ralph Lauren Andrew pants specifically) Meals clothing & their other brand 69 are VERYWIDE usually but also explicitly body type inclusive

I'll be honest and say a lot of brands like dapper boi and kirrin finch feel a bit scammy to me, honestly i think a better way to get answers to this would be to ask for specific pieces you want, start getting more knowledgeable about silhouette and what fits you best, tailoring etc. and such. there aren't really any shortcuts to figuring out what cut looks best on your specific body w/o lots of experimentation and playing around. buying a $150 bd from kirrin finch isn't going to particularly do much to help ya out. hope this doesn't feel mean, just speaking from personal experience. fellow tboy.

I vividly remember the comeup of those brands when they first got big and wanted their stuff. But rn I cannot in good faith recommend getting stuff that just seems jacked up in price to appeal to transmasc people But that's just my response to that specific subset of brands. I also have heard amazing things about big bud press and such which I definitely am not wholesale dismissing (especially as a thin person whose not the target demo of some of those adjacent brands) I also have a good friend who wears some wildfang as a tall and bigger queer person, so if that's a need i'd perhaps recommend for that But otherwise I don't think it's worth it

Ive personally worn and a few of my friends have all worn big bud press and we’ve all been pretty happy with it! And their prices aren’t horrific
Sam Bam Thank You Maam
I keep getting fed ads for both& and honestly... there clothes seem pretty meh and quite expensive for what they are. Plus pretty restrictive sizing (pants only come in 28L, for example) My M.O. to this point has been to care more about style than brand -- straight or athletic fits have worked fairly well for me, though i'm constantly experimenting with it (for reference I have ~30" waist and ~41" hips, most recent purchase were J Crew chinos and I like the fit) ooh i love this

yeah that i totally get. it’s kind of why all i was interested in was pants, cause it’s so easy to find shirts that don’t look bad when you bind, and i figured trying to find places that specialize in that sort of thing was a good start

what type of pants are you looking for + do you know your measurements? that's going to be the most useful information for finding pants and i promise you'll find something 🤞🏼

Not sure if I look super masc on close inspection but if u look at my waywt posts u can see a relatively slim person with a 10"+ difference between her hips and waist wearing men's pants. I think they fit alright. I go for wider/looser fits and higher waists and I've found that generally I just need the waist taken in and or a hem if anything at all. I've been doing more made to measure stuff lately but only with suits/tailoring which is less forgiving fit-wise imo. What's your usual issue when you try stuff from the men's section? I agree that wildfang etc may not necessarily be the solution. I don't love how most brands aiming at trans/gnc ppl approach sizing - still often feels like a one system fits all approach. I appreciate that both& at least tries to clearly outline who their target customer is and how their clothes fit 🤷

i’m replying again because i finally got to put pants on again and put things into words i haven’t shopped often in the men’s section but what very frequently puts me off of women’s pants is how often a “relaxed” or “straight leg” fit still accentuates the hips
