Rub-Off Finish on Solovair Gibson thoughts
So I've been eyeing these navy rub-off Gibson shoes from Solovair, the OG makers of Doc Martens, and I've been reading about how its plastic layer having issues over time. Does anyone have long-term wearing experience with the rub-off or hi-shine (they're the same treatment from what I've read) shoes?

Can’t u just polish them if it comes off? Like it WILL come off
Might be a slight crack on stretch / flex points. But usually not noticeable
Any shine can be just get some polish and buffing
Shoes get creases. It's normal. They flex as our feet move
Read that some can get holes due to the plastic coating cracking, is that part of it as well?
I don't mind it coming off, however, the coating coming off in patches is a possible issue
there’s very little quality difference between the doc martens hi-shine finish and the solovairs hi-shine finish; both are prone to crack
If it does crack, is the plastic finish safe to be sanded off by a cobbler or can it still be restored?
the plastic finish is a very thin finish applied to the leather to make it shiny; it can’t be sanded off
I would opt for a different leather altogether
I also don’t think the hi-shine and the rub-off have exactly the same treatment / finish
I see, just sad that the navy rub-off is hella good looking!
