Replacing System76 scheduler with feral's gamemode
Hi!
I'm using bazzite desktop kde image (without steam gamemode) and i noticed both system76 scheduler and gamemode are already installed wich is great..but i'd like to switch to feral's gamemode since for me it works way better than system76 scheduler.
First, i disabled that scheduler and went straight to "enable" gamemode...but for some reason it doesn't work.
It fails to activate the service telling me it doesn't exist, but the package it's already layered into the system?
And yes, i do have an AMD GPU...wich is RX 6600 if that matters.
Is there any way to make feral's gamemode work?

i forgot to mention this
From my understanding you need to fork bazzite (not build from or layer onto your system) and replace it that way, because you cannot add something that has been removed in the system image (in this case bazzite) or a previous layer.
Dont layer gamemode directly but layer libgamemode.so.0 and libgamemodeauto.so.0 instead
Sadly i don't have the knowledge to fork it myself...so...i'm going back to regular Fedora.
I cannot stand not being able to install what i really want/need.
I also cannot stand system76 scheduler..the overall performance is bad compared to feral game mode.
bazzite seems like a cool idea, but..removing one thing that i really need/use it's just not ideal (for me and the few people who still use feral).
Tried it
It's not working so far...
Weird. Always worked for me
For me it isn't wich is unfortunate cause i really like bazzite
Maybe bazzite just hates my pc
I had to switch to the testing branch cause the stable one has an annoying issue (blackscreen at boot)
If these kinds of issues bother you then I would stick to either base Fedora or Nobara
In my experience system76 scheduler works much better (and automatically) compared to game mode
Both on Arch when I installed and tried both system76 and game mode, and on Bazzite
Yeah, i went to Nobara eventually
for me it's exactly the opposite
unfortunately
good for you
