The second-hand fashion marketplace is the first of the new "pre-loved" clothing platforms to make a profit.

Wonder if this is one of the first secondhand fashion apps to make a profit? Most still now (I think?) have been supported by that sweet venture capitalist funding
this is eBay erasure
guess so. though i wouldn't count them as one of the early 2010s / late 2000s entrants
ebay is the big daddy
I was just being a weenie 🙂
silly sausage
They have made a lot of buyers fee off of me in the last 12 months haha
Article does say they are the first of the 2nd hand fashion apps to get out of the red
My real hope is that they stick to the "private sellers only" model and don't start allowing storefronts to operate, start selling dropshipped crap like on ebay where you have to basically filter out anything with condition "new"
I hope they do more to crack down on blatant fake sellers, but theyre very fast to get back on stuff you report.
Also wish you could block certain brands from a search result, too much zara/h+m trash clogging it up
Great site to buy from in general
Oh god yeah if I could filter out brands or do a "-" in searches it would save me so much time lmao
Fakes are definitely a problem, especially if you're after something popular (north face puffers, stussy tees, AF1s etc seem to pop up constantly) but their buyer protections are pretty good so as long as you don't make any payments off the app I think buyers are pretty safe. An annoyance though for sure, they should definitely moderate new accounts better
As a seller as well I find Vinted so much better than eBay for clothes. I've had a lot of things listed on both and sell like 80% in vinted. Shipping and tracking etc is a lot smoother as well. All round good experience tbh
Mileage may vary if you're trying to sell more expensive items, but for offloading my cheap crap it's been great 😅
Yeah the buyer protection is really good. The only weird thing is only having 2 days to claim the refund if something doesn't arrive. Oh, and inpost as a delivery service kinda sucking.
I've sold a good few things there, nothing over £100, not had any problems
Do people use the Vinted internal buying system im your area? Because in Germany absolutely nobody does so and a lot of ppl just refuse to do so.
Oh yeah in the UK absolutely, I've bought and sold a lot and used the internal system 100% of the time
No one has ever asked me to go outside of Vinted to pay either
I think it is a relic from the early days were Vinted was called Kleiderkreisel in Germany and the internal payment system was really trash and took quite a big cut from the seller.
I guess in Germany Geiz ist Geil
Never had a bad experience
Once someone "lost" a piece of clothing (i suspect they tealized that the jacket was worth way more than 15€) and refunded me the sum sent via paypal. Thats basically the worst that has ever happened.
I quite like the two days thing in terms of refunds, as it avoids the likelihood of the buyer wearing it, fucking it up, and then blaming you
Oh, that part is great, its if it goes missing theres also only a two day window, likely several weeks from when you bought it, to claim money back.
Scammers use it by faking postal receipts on items they never had, and hoping you miss the window
ah okay, yeah that is tricky
