Wardrobe overhaul question from a newbie
Hi all, finally got to the point where I want to start overhauling my wardrobe and so I found 'Building a basic wardrobe' guide but have some questions that I can't find answers to, specifically regarding the t-shirts. Is the idea of getting them in white / grey so that they can be used as a standalone piece of clothing or specifically under button down shirts? If it's the latter (which I'm planning on wearing, say, 80% of the time) wouldn't v-neck make more sense (so the tee doesn't show under shirt) and go with a bit more interesting colors for tees when worn on their own? I feel like I should just use common sense but I guess my main concern is not getting clothes that I could mix and match easily (which was always my problem to begin with - pieces of clothes that rarely worked together)
Bonus question: for loafers, suede or nah? (I'm at flipping the coin phase and have never worn either)
Thanks!

V necks aren’t really on trend for most people/in most circles rn
Tees can be worn on their own or as a layer
I would never wear one standalone.. that's kinda the problem too, it would only be used under OCBD etc.
I think most folks here would go leather over suede also but I’m not as plugged in
I’d still go for a crew neck or maybe even a tank top at that point
Thanks kyn
loafers it's partly personal taste and partly what loafers you want and what outfits you're going to wear them in
I'd skip v-necks entirely personally. I have specific shirts I wear as undergarments vs as a top layer generally
loafers are year-round for me depending on the style
If you have specific qs you might want to make your own thread
Sorry for the confusion, I apparently had different account logged in to web Discord and I used app one as a response.. gonna stick to the one that created the thread
Tl;dr: regular brown loafers (not too dark, not too bright) so they fit with more pants but now that you're saying it's okay for them to be year-round (I guess depending on seasons? - Where I live it's all kinds, rain, snow etc.) suede makes a bit less sense for when it's raining (again, I think, no prior experience)
suede is totally fine in all weather

Suede is NOT Delicate
Myth: suede is delicate.
I don’t know how the myth got started, it’s entirely false. Real suede is an incredibly durable leather. It doesn’t show surface scratches or stains very much. It can get literally soaked and bounce right back. It’s incredibly easy to care for; it’s receptive to neglect and papering.
Oak Street Bootmakers +7yrs of wear

I think black or dark brown are good choices for loafers (again depending on the style: penny, tassel, handsewn, etc.). This is a decent run-down of various styles and such

If I could only have three pairs of shoes, I’d go with a pair of loafers, some Norwegian split-toes, and...
Chunky styles like Paraboot Reims are also popular now which I think will do fine in some wet weather with the big rubber soles
As usual, my advice is to start collecting pictures of outfits, styles, ideas, etc. that you like and occasionally reviewing it and/or trying to copy fits you specifically like
White or grey t-shirt for versatility. Can be worn as standalone with a variety of colured pants/jeans and also under a oxford shirt if you want.
I get to reading / watching (I already checked looktastic etc. and saw some pics from r/mfa actually ;)) Thanks for all the help, you're all great
