Virtual Server (aka Intel VDS\VPS) for streaming events

Hello! I just wandering will it be possible to stream using VPS\VDS with intel 2+ cores CPU no GPU? So for example 1st PC with GPU will stream to twitch channel and 2nd PC (the VPS) will use that twitch channel in OBS like browser source and then stream it to channel I need. So there is no need to use my own pc all day long if I will stream all day long (like marathon runs)

I know that you can stream with a VPS and set up 24/7 streams that just run files. I don't know if they can do streaming from a source tho. Network Chuck did a video on that.

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to do here You're going to use a VPN to pull your stream so you can use it in a browser source on your PC to stream that source somewhere else?

I wanna rent server and set up obs on that server to feed it browser source and just curious how powerful should be this server to handle obs.

That would have to either be a linux vps or a windows rdp session. Also the desktops beeds to stay active when u dc from it. Haven’t heard of a console obs version yet. Depending on what u stream u I’d say a quad core cpu should do it for most things at 1080p if that’s the only thing it does

Again, what is this server doing? Where is it streaming to? Why not just do this from your PC? Like the use case doesn't make sense if you're just bouncing the stream over to another platform

that server will receive 1 or more source (from 2 pc for example, doesn't matter what type) and send them to twitch channel

And aren't you already streaming to your twitch channel from your own PC? You're adding a server in the middle for what reason?

so I can not use my own pc for all day long and use server other people can mod with me (connecting to it)

...but you would still be streaming your OBS to that server Which would still use your PC all day And people can handle changing your OBS settings with web hooks on you local PC, TimTheTatman has been doing this with one of his mods for a long time because Tim knows that he doesn't know how to do shit with OBS

May be I am not the only one who will streaming his content? I don't have white ip so they won't be able to connect to me

White IP? You just have one specific port open in your router and let someone connect over a public IP address Renting out a cheap server is not going to perform well and is pretty wasteful even if multiple people will alternate who is using it. They could all just use their own PC's

this is not about "do I need a server" its more about "what specs I need" and I believe that VPS is not an option cause I am running obs on 6th core and still can not get stable 60)) so may be VDS its your time I have shared ip with other users in my network. Its shared on my ISP level not on my router level

I have few miniPCs with intel N100 cpu. it contains quick sync hardware video encoder which OBS is able to use at least on ubuntu. haven't seen that on any VPSs but that is one additional route to research i'm currently building backpack streaming encoder box out of one of them. ubuntu 24.04 just released and contains some updated hardware support making it viable

If all you need to do is relay/copy an RTMP source, then even my single cores cheap ass VPS can do that. As long as there is no encoding or rendering (blending more than one source), then you'll be fine. You wont be running OBS, but just nginx+ffmpeg (or some variation of that), and you can send and grab sources from the VPS 🙂
