why doesnt the mod work on servers?
I've started a server with my friend and distant horizons doesnt work, it only turns the currently already loaded chunks into lods

the fork will make the server be able to generate chunks outside of your render distance
for installation read pinned in that thread
The technical reason is that servers refuse to send chunk data outside the configured max distance
