what would be the right approach to create that purple shape behind the logo. should i export it as image from design file?

You can make it a pseudo element with a border-radius and transform. And then give the parent element an overflow hidden Not sure if that's the best solution but it's one

if you have it as part of the design already, just export the svg and use it
