Also tassel loafers and oxfords too but I'm not sure which ones I like at all
Nsts are nice, they add a little bit of detail and typically have a good shape, longwings I personally associate more with schoolboy/thom brown looks rather than actually going for a dressy vibe, they’re pretty round and wide typically so might not be what you’re going for
My thinking is that you should probably try to get to a store with a few different options and shapes and try some stuff on, see how you like them on foot
You really have to just develop your personal taste a little to make a choice here because it’s purely preference at the end of the day
Both shoes are dope, but the longwing blucher looks too casual for a dressy suit to me.
I agree with bishop. You’ve done a lot to “acquire knowledge” about menswear and so a lot of these choices come down to your taste and preferences.
It’s also much easier to say “love that for you” and “not your vibe” when you post lots of fits tbqh
...my idea dream dressy shoe is balmoral boots
take from that what you will
Thanks so much! Out of curiosity what do you personally like in an oxford?
I don’t really wear oxfords
I post fits but not enough yet lol. I wear my chambords all the time for example. Still figuring out my tastes and preferences. The suit fit is more of a pipe dream right now, I dunno why I'm so interested in it lol
imo for shoes the best thing you can do is try 👏 shit 👏 on 👏
i think there's a connection between how the shoe fits and feels and how much you'll enjoy it that's beyond our personal preferences
i could say the paraboots to me are interesting because the derby is a nice bit of, say, rebellion in a traditional #menswear fit otherwise but you may feel differently
Thank you! Do you think the leather soled paraboot is subversive in the right way? I'm concerned it reads as a like a halfway approach with the leather sole and lack of yellow stitch
subversion depends on how you perceive and react to the thing thing subverted, especially with formalwear where you may still care about decorum so i can't answer that for you
put on the outfit you want to wear these shoes with (or at least the pants so you can figure out psi) and try stuff on if you can. that's going to inform your choice more meaningfully than anything i can write
