Iris incompatible with Amd Gpu?🤔
I have an amd 6650 XT, intel i5 9400f, 48gb ram, and I still get bad framerate with shaders. I've tried setting my render distance to very low. I've set the shaders to low. DH doesnt seem to affect it, I get the same fps without it. I've allocated an entire ram stick to mc, and idk what to do. In the photo, DH on 128 distance low, BSL shaders low.

now I wouldn't mind a constant 50-60 but it drops frames extremely often
There are 2 performance mods that with both of them installed should increase your fps by around 10 these mods are noisium and c2me just look them up on either github or modrinth or forge
my 7900xtx gets 80-144 and thats normally nice but like you said the frame drops kills the immersion. no clue how to fix. lowering quality didnt help
I already use both
well I am not sure how to help without getting rid of some of the niceties
seems i’m just outta luck then
yeah
GPU utilization is only 14%, you are probably CPU bound from loading chunks
lower the CPU load option in DH, and set your min/max ram to same value and see if that helps
it’s a persistent issue that occurs without DH aswell
Use a benchmarking software like mangohud or msi afterburner. That will get to the bottom of where the bottleneck is then
Also make sure you have a relatively new Iris version, it was optimized for AMD a couple weeks ago
From the F3 menu you sent, it appears that you are using Quilt loader, which is an untested environment. Can you test Iris via Fabric loader instead?
Fabric loader. distant horizon removed.
iris-1.7.0-snapshot+mc1.20.4-5983468
and now I have 48gb of ram
One question, do you have V-sync enabled?
i've tried with it on and off, same same
in this it's off rn

this problem exisited when I had also has a nividia 1660
Such low GPU utilization with that frame rate usually points to vsync being the culprit, unless the issue comes down to how your computer is set up.
Have you experiencing the same problem with other games?
nope
minecraft the only messed up one
and my gpu is overclocked
I wouldnt mind showing all my specs if you need it
Have you checked if you have any GPU profile set for Minecraft/javaw.exe in your GPU control panel?
nope nothing there
What frame rate do you usually get without shaders or in pure vanilla?
maxed out, I have to use vsync to keep it at my monitor (165)
is there a way to just force it to use more gpu power?
Oh wait, most games it get random frame spikes
Since you also mentioned you had an Nvidia card before your current AMD card, I'm inclined to think it's some sort of residual GPU driver causing issues in the background.
Assuming of course you upgraded without uninstalling the previous driver.
uninstalled everything, wiped it clean then added my new gpu
I'm out of ideas then. Sorry if I couldn't help.
lmao
is there anyone who may be able to help?
with iris, shaders on, minecraft doesn’t use amd gpu’s properly causing the cpu to bottleneck. killing frames:crythumbsup:
I had similar experiences out-the-gate. I just ended up downloading ~25 performance mods to get the game to not be a slideshow.
Making me wonder if my 5700xt is having the same problems, but my gpu is constantly maxed out at 100%--even with shaders off. Is your AMD Adrenaline & Drivers up to date? A rollback to a previous driver version could help too.
on every driver update (since having this gpu) i’ve never been able to get iris to use the full gpu
I am also using a ton of performance mods aswell
have you tried the latest build from #unstable-releases
:harold:
better f3 makes the cpu 100% in my pc idk why
Hello there @Diet Øxygen, a recent post appears to have the same issue as reported here and they found a solution.
#Iris 1.7 performance issues: SOLVED (by disabling debug mode)
Try checking if this actually helped your case.
how do i disable debug mode?
press ctrl D in shader list
and press No
bet
make sure you're on today's Iris 1.7
not an older version
yessuhhhh it works
clean 165fps with shaders
:pog:
it looks soo beautiful:thewot:
Damn you finally fixed it !!!!
Shout out to @NinjaMike for finding a solution.
oh wasn’t the debug
just updated Iris versions
well that makes sense but weren't you on the latest version anywayss
magic:crythumbsup:
more like not updating
idk minecraft is finicky
yea bedrock was coded in a much more structually sound way but is less accessible for like mods and things
:harold:
