Shoulder Divot on Overcoat?

Looking to buy my first overcoat online, but not sure if there will be a shoulder divot issue like with suits

This sounds like something that can be mitigated by knowing your measurements and reading sizing/measurements provided by the clothing manufacturer or reseller

generally speaking the exact measurements aren’t that important when it comes to big overcoats; you have much greater leeway with the fit. I own several large coats all in different sizes, but all fit me really well. it depends on how you intent on wearing it, an overcoat which can accommodate a blazer underneath probably won’t look right if you only wear it with a tshirt. also depends on the fabric; e.g tweed is a fabric that can hold its shape really well whereas a thin cotton overcoat won’t be able to do the same + different shoulder construction ; set-in sleeve vs. raglan sleeves

Yeah raglan will make this much less of a concern Not sure what context or type of coat you’re after but that would be my recommendation if you are worried about this

right, but that's what I was wondering about, because shoulder divots in suits are not just caused by shoulder width, but the armhole, bicep, etc

it‘s simply far less relevant with overcoats
