Do you install Iris via the Iris installer?

Rerun the installer, in the installer menu, make sure to select the installation profile to Iris+Fabric. Then, in the Minecraft Launcher, click on the profile list and select Fabric Loader.

I'd avoid using the standard launcher and use something like the Prism Launcher if you're modding.

It's honestly awful and makes things 10x more complicated if you're using mods. Honestly, if you use mods avoid the vanilla launcher.

Vanilla launcher is fine for most people. Learning how to use other launchers is unnecessary for the average user and can be challenging for first-time modders. And hey at least they’re not using curseforge

It's as intuitive as it gets to me. And when it comes to mods, learning how to install those is 1000x more difficult with the default launcher. With prism it's integrated into a one click solution. Even shaders.
