Can you be more specific? What's your use case where you're concerned about SEO with relation to images?
AFAIK SEO only deals with text—keywords, phrases, etc. While search engines can return images, I don't think that image format comes into play when deciding which results to show first.
format? doesnt matter for seo
it actually does, a little
only because larger images cause longer loading times
longer loading times can affect your score
just use the dreadful webp if you can
if you need icons, consider using a very well optimized svg instead of png and webp
if you can, use jpegxl too, for ios
if you need really large images, maybe try using avif as well, but be careful because lower quality values will make your image look like it has no texture at all
that doesnt necessarily have anything to do with format, you can compress jpeg to be as small as webp
the guy was asking if format had something directly to do with seo, which it doesnt, load speed is of course a huge issue for many reasons
webp is good actually, has transparency, small file size
well, INDIRECTLY, the image format has influence
it could if you dont use properly sized and compressed jpegs
even if you do, picking jpegxl is an instant ~5-10% space saving
and a webp could save a bit too
Webp / picture tag or img srcsets so the user gets an optimized version for their device. Pro tip: naming your image something semantic should help Google better understand your content too
And this does matter for seo. Technical seo is as important as keyword strategies and link building
yep @vince is right., I am an SEO specialist and the factors mentioned are crucial to SERP
I am doing an SEO optimization of my github readme LOL
but I do have an 8000x6000 img
It doesn't really need to be that big :)
It is PNG though because I kinda need the transparent bg
you can re-do it in svg, css or try webp or jpegxl
All i got is markdown and html xd
well, you have webp and jpegxl
What to use to convert?
can photoshop do it
 virus.app
the name sucks
but it works amazing
it's 100% online, and it works offline
(it means, you can disconnect from the internet and it still works)
:ragsdot:
it exposes a lot of options as well
Thankies
