Suit Jackets and Pants under $200
I'm looking for a suit jacket and pants under $200. Preferably just a basic navy suit. Other than Amazon, I found this site called suitsoutlets.com that has some pretty good prices but idk if they are good or not. I'm in the US and don't need it that fast but not longer than like 2 weeks shipping. I'm not really open to buying second hand as it is my first suit. Please help me out!

Tbh even though you're not open to it, a secondhand suit is the move here at this price point
You can get something much better than Amazon or suitsoutlets.com lol
You can check brands like j.crew for flash sales
Also keep in mind that the money saved by buying a secondhand suit can be used towards buying a nicer new suit when it becomes in your price range
That's a really tight budget. J Crew might have something on sale? idk
maybe you can get lucky if you're near a macy's? lots of sales as they try to stay above water
Not to be insensitive to your economic situation, wherever it is, but $200 is a tough price point to find something nice that will last. Spier and Mackay is the best option for entry-level suits, and their Red Label suits are just $300.
If you can scrounge up just another hundred bucks, this is going to be a nice suit for you that will last you maybe your whole life, depending on how hard you wear it. $200 will be really tough to find something decent.
that suit looks great. i'm not in a bad position economically its just that i'm a high school student and i want a suit that i can wear to prom and also to weddings as i am a professional photographer. would you say that suit will be better than something like this https://suitsoutlets.com/collections/wool-suits/products/bevagna-collection-100-wool-2-piece-suit-2-buttons-navy-regular-fit
SUITS OUTLETS
Bevagna Collection - Navy 100% Virgin Wool Regular Fit Pick Stitche...
100% Virgin Wool Single Breast 2 Buttons Side Vents Flat Front Pants, 36" in Length. Unhemmed Pants Bottoms for Alteration Ease Regular Fit Navy suit
The spier and mackay red label is 250 right now. All wool and half canvassed for 250
I'm not super familiar with that brand and didn't find much info online about them. They could be totally decent!
I will say, to my eye the lapels are pretty narrow, which doesn't look quite as nice as wider lapels. It's a young look though, so you can probably get away with it.
The other thing is that I suspect this suit is fused, meaning it's glued together instead of sewed. S and M are all at least half-canvass, meaning the upper part of the suit is sewed. This makes it look nicer, last longer, and usually feel a little better.
The other thing is that if you live in an area with a tailor, that'll also make a real difference in terms of making sure the suit fits. You can get away with maybe $100 in tailoring costs and the pants will fit perfectly for you and any changes needed to the jacket too.
Go for spier over this if you're unwilling to go secondhand as it's literally the same price and I can almost 100% assure you a much better suit
Do you know your size?
i think im a 36 or 38
in general but especially if you're working on a budget, knowing your measurements are important - even 2" will make a difference sometimes
brick and mortar stores (macy's, nordstrom, etc) will usually do it for you but if you need to do them yourself this is a good vid on how https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwBniB9amJY

Yes they both come with pants. Note they will be a drop 6 and they will need hemmed.
I don’t notice any meaningful difference. Likely a slightly different fabric or something but they’re both worsted merino wool at the same price point so likely not meaningful difference
I asked S and M and they said it's the same suit, just a very slightly different shade.
shorten it to Spier, I beg of you
what about this suit? its $100 cheaper than the spier. https://www.nordstromrack.com/s/alton-lane-the-mercantile-trim-fit-suit/7786753?origin=category-personalizedsort&breadcrumb=Home%2FMen%2FClothing%2FSuits%20%26%20Separates%2FSuits&color=419
pass. It's all polyester and a stretch fabric
$50 cheaper and it's plastic
I did not. i found one from nordstrom rack that did the job great and was very cheap
