The dh compatibility faq mentions the beta may damage your computer

Is this a "just in case" warning to remove any potential liability? I don't see how it would damage your pc unintentionally otherwise.

increased load on both CPU and GPU -> overheating -> fried power connectors/hardware if not plugged in properly

Any modern cpu/gpu would thermal throttle before reaching that point when configured correctly. I feel like it goes without saying that if you don't have your hardware plugged in properly any task could run that risk. I think the statement in the faq might discourage people from trying out the beta and could be worded differently

It’s mostly to discourage use as they are unstable builds, though yes it also is a liability thing

In any case, the developer would not respond to a case of hardware damage, neither in betas nor in final versions. The message is only for "formality".
