What Are the Best Settings/Mods for FPS Using Bliss and DH?
Looking for the best ways to increase performance.

Its staying around 50-60fps with the CPU load turned all the way down
Keep the CPU load at low or balanced
If I increase the CPU load past minimal, it stutters reallyyyy bad and dips around 30-40 fps
Which is fine if I've preloaded the chunks but kinda annoying
what are you're cpu temps looking like with the usage at low or balanced?
You don’t need 32 chunks vanilla render distance if you’re using DH
Turn it down to like 16
Also using an fps cap can mess with your frames so try disabling it
If you want to best performance disable distant generation too
I would even use 8 rd
Lower render distances seem to bug out DH more :/
The distant chunks don't stay loaded in
Huh
That shouldn’t happen
Yeah it loads LODs faster then, let it run on overdrive for a while, get all the terrain loaded in and then turn it back down once it's done
8
12
at most
then wait for chunks to load
it takes ages
8 or 12 has too much pop in for me personally
do you have Noisium and C2ME installed?
when you're flying around yeah, in survival it's not bad
No just walking around
But that’s just up to taste
yeah I mean I'm also conservative in that respect, though I use extreme render quality for DH
since it doesn't make a difference in performance for me anyway
This bug is happening when I toggle sprint in fly now
they have to reload
it's really annoying
yeah you're flying so fast stuff can't load, DH isn't fast enough
it just isn't
add Noisium and C2ME if you don't already have them and turn up the CPU load, that's all you can do
no no I mean literally when sprint is toggled
I'm in the same area
Oh
weird
Yea idk
I'll try those two mods rq
these are early access experimental builds, there are bugs, they can break your computer
🤣
says it sort of like that in the compat faq
so don't expect it to work
Ik lol
Just experimenting
OMG THANK YOU. Those two mods improved performance so much. I'm getting 60-70fps with 32 render distance and "I paid for the whole CPU" turned on.
Add Starlight if you want even more!
It rewrites the lighting engine or something and is still somehow compatible with Sodium and Iris 🤔
someone said it's reduntant in 1.20 and farther but better safe than have less fps I guess
sodium and iris don't really care about the lighting engine
its ran by the server not the client
ah I see
well I still use Starlight cuz it says it optimizes something or other so I say better just add it 🤣
Any mods that help get rid of unused memory?
Doesn't FerriteCore do something like that? There's a million optimization mods, I use the ones with "ium" on the end and the three I mentioned for chunk loading optimization
I have Ferret Core installed
I don't even know what it does, I can get really good performance with shaders so long as I'm not using DH
I have a GTX 1660 that doesn't really amount to much
It just says it reduces memory usage so idk
I want something that helps clean up unused memory so I can allocate more without stutters.
yeah I have no idea, I use a bare minimum set up
for performance
the whole sodium family that is compatible with 1.20.1 (too bad Hydrogen and Phosphor aren't 😭)
why were those dropped anyway?
The MOST annoying bug rn is DH disabling itself when the settings are drastically changed. Unless thats just it protecting me from frying my pc lmao
you mean where it crashes and draws the terrain all over the sky?
just don't change the settings
No no, but i've gotten that one too lol
I see
Yea if you change the render distance sometimes you have to leave and rejoin the world for it to reload
fun stuff
early development build bugs go brrrrrrrrrrrt
How can I do that
Vsync
just enable that, it helps
Oks
keeps screen tearing from happening
In the video settings in the general tab there’s a max framerate option
Try setting it to unlimited
that can help with frame jitter sometimes but generally you'll be able to see every little stutter
My friend has an amd card and enabling vsync or setting a max framerate was messing with his fps for some reason
I set my limit to 60 with shaders
and turn on motion blur
Ik I play with vsync but I’d rather have a smooth framerate than no screen tearing if vsync was causing my frames to drop
yeah that's why I just limit my fps
because screen tearing is even worse
For worldgen performance use noisium + c2me. I also found the DH generation to be quite memory intensive in my case so I would dedicate extra memory, as well as setting the same minimum and maximum memory. When going from 16 render distance no DH, to 12 render 96 LOD; I found bumping the memory from 4gb to 6gb to help signifigantly, adjust according to your LOD render distance.
I have 13 assigned but only because I run a modpack sometimes that requires at least 9 to load all the mods
Forge? I dont have any major mods but 100+ small mods (- DH) runs fine on 4gb for me. Though it is a static allocation with GraalVM and ferritecore.
Yeah, Forge, the Tekkit modpack specifically
