possible LOD chunk load bottleneck
first of all im sorry if something i say sounds weird or nonesense but english is not my first language.
i have downloaded DH2 2 days ago and through a long and painful series of troubleshooting and trying to fix it i find myself somehow not able to make the chunks load if i dont force it by using the LOD render distance radius setting to a crazy number like 2000.
i saw online a dozen of settings and toubleshooting videos that people can make it work with a much lower number with really great result and i just cant get what i can fix to make it work.
i'll attach screenshots of my current settings and the mod list i have right now.
so when im in a situation of loading into a world the game just takes an insane amount of time loading the chunks, a time i belive excessive for the pc build i have, if you have any tips on what i could do or change to make it faster it would really be great.
my computer build atm:
- intel core i7-8700
-nvidia rtx 3050
-samsung ssd 970 evo 1tb
-32gb ram ddr4

yes! i did download the mod for the 1.20.4 through the iris installer 3.2.0
also the chunks do load at the same speed on shaders or not
yea, generation is cpu dependent
does it work without shaders on?
yes
chunks do load at the same speed tho
ok, so currently it only generates chunks when at big render distances or if shaders are off, or am i misunderstanding
when shaders are off, the cpu has more time to do other things meaning chunks will load faster
it does load chunks very slowly independently that shaders are on or off, it does that at the exact same speed
try increasing cpu load in DH Settings
DH depends on the slow worldgeneration, so slow generation is normal
well how much time for you is "long"
so it is probably because thectonic world generation is slower than the vanilla one and dh2 struggles if you dont have like a really high end cpu?
bc it's normal for me to wait 4 hours to load all 256 chunks
tectonic doesn't have much of an effect on world generation speed in my experience
yesterday i was able to get a typical rendering distance u see in the screenshots and videos after maybe 40 min to an hour
im talking this kind of render distance
well thats a pretty normal time then
and i had set my LOD distnace radius to like 2k
2048 to be exact
you can also try noisium to speed up world generation a bit
or c2me too
nvm you have it
im currently using c2me
if noisium works better in ur experience ill give it a shot
noisium can also speed up 20-30%
they are both compatible, you can use both
is using both going go make my pc melt down into the floor? XD
Nope
actually
i am using both
seems fine
100% cpu load
atleast no overheating
and fine clocks
noisium is just making it faster, not putting more load on your cpu
yes
alright i'll try
Also make sure you have enough ram allocated
i got 32gs in total and like 13 allocated for minecraft
that should be enough
alright thank you guys!
