how to reduce lag spikes
my specs on my pc might not be that fit for running dh at 256 chunks (i5 11400k and rtx 2060) but when loading chunks it is really bad

you can reduce cpu load and quality in the DH settings, not much else
Yea I wouldn’t use 256. Benefits past 128 aren’t that big and 256 is a 4 times larger area you need to render
there’s a chance i’ll upgrade to an i7 12400k, but thanks for the tips
should be improved in the future updates of DH
data source rewrite branch helps a lot in that regards, and should be merged into main nightly branch in the near future
i am rendering 256 chunks with i5 11400F already like 4 hours with med-high preset so yeah
Try a different java distro like adoptium or graalVM, these are more optimised than the default one so you'll stutter less.
Also take a loot at these launch args, they helped me run mc a lot smoother https://github.com/brucethemoose/Minecraft-Performance-Flags-Benchmarks

And make sure you dont have too much ram allocated
Somewhere between 6~10 gigs is fine
i put 6gb out of 16 that i have in total
Yup das good
But def give this a go, it can reduce the lag spikes a lot
