how much memory did you allocate to minecraft?
ive given 6gb
what cpu load preset are you on? this cpu should handle "aggressive" no problem
i was told thats all i needed when i was getting things to work

if you disable distant generation and wait for "thread pool tasks" to reach zero (on the f3 debug screen), does it still perform poorly?

bit odd but workable
try letting the game run overnight with distant generation enabled
when you're ready to play, disable distant generation
although with this powerful of a cpu it's a bit strange :thonk:

ive got some mods and shaders
distant generation generates lods for chunks outside your render distance
that might be why im getting less
and are you on 2.0.1 or the nightly build? 2.0.1 has some issues regarding distant generation

try lowering the cpu load preset to low impact and re-enabling distant generation
see if it still causes stutters

yeah it was ok now it was getting 90fps still with the bliss iris shaders
try adding c2me and noisium, they speed up lod gen considerably

uh one slight issue is that its all foggy now
advanced options -> graphics -> fog
then disable fog
(it just kinda looks bad unfortunately)

looks like the depth of field effect is messing up somehow
yeah it was shader settings
but now hte distant horizons isnt even working😭
reset the shader settings then rejoin the world again
always gotta rejoin after changing shader settings since stuff tends to bug out

BSL doesn't work on 1.20.4, at least not for me not sure why
complementary reimagined has an edit that works (Bliss) but I couldn't get the original working myself

it is listed as supported but I couldn't get it working, DH warns me it doesn't work
i think that was an iris bug but i'm not sure
probably works with optifine
this stuff will get ironed out given a couple weeks i reckon
optifine is deprecated atp
optifine is also limited to the old janky shader compat where lods can't be shaded
I'm just waiting for full Replay Mod support, the mod is amazing already and to know it will get better is just making minecraft feel as big as it was for the child me
not sure if the replay mod devs are willing to add dh support
would be really cool tho

one on their mods team said there's something happening either here or on the iris side, not sure
replay mod not working with dh has nothing to do with iris

the problem is that dh only knows how to load lods for singleplayer, multiplayer, and realms(?)
replaymod stores its world data in different manner iirc

its kinda gone back to quite low especially in one of the pyramid structures i found
when exploring performance might drop because it's constantly reloading lod data
solution is possibly to drop the cpu load even further

or allocate more ram aswell
depends whether your cpu or gpu is being overloaded
since disabling distant generation gave a massive performance boost it sounds like your cpu is the bottleneck, thus lowering the render distance wouldn't help
i get like 30% cpu 90% gpu

in this case turn the cpu load preset back to low impact and maybe decrease the quality preset a bit
now its gone back to my games render distance
man this game is so finicky lol

the queue doesn't know to drop old work when you change quality settings so it gets stuck
