Trend Watch: Seasonal Color Analysis - Topic of the day 3/23/24
It's been something that's been talked about for many years now, but if you've been on tiktok, then you've been seeing it emerge again recently with filters or ai telling people what "season" they are and what colors work best for them. Do you think it's bogus, believe that it does make sense, believe it but don't think it should matter, etc? Let us know!

How many times can we talk about this
It was all a lie. Guys, it was all a lie. She lied.

What season are the all black wearers
i am the night
i feel like it's one of those Things people use to con people out of their money when the process of doing it yourself is basically free
well I think we can separate this from skin tone/etc. and think, what colors do I tend to like? and maybe that informs what other colors might work well with those?
yes; i think there's a distinction between building colors within an outfit based on your own preference vs a (faulty) algorithmic practice
for example, I enjoy these colors , so maybe I could look for other palettes with similar hues or whatever
and I tend to not like the colors under "spring"
i think it mostly circles back to min/max culture, people wanting the right answer to not look dumb but also not wanting to go through the effort of finding said answer
Charlie is on a campaign
also for sake of completion i did one of those online assessments many years ago, but fast forward to now and i do not dress in any way complimentary towards the color season lol
tl;dr wear what you like
Aww with changing seasons I hoped this was gonna be just about seasonal clothing palettes not more skin tone stuff
i actually do that with patterns 😆 lots of stripes and such for winter vs uh...whatever will come in summer 🙂
I also wear a lot of stripes in winter
Man why this gotta be the topic of the day
It's bullshit
Maybe we pretend it’s not about skin tone for the rest of the thread
I’m a sucker for little mini trends this SS. I want a crochet top and more embroidered stuff
I’m generally not great at colors tho
I love colors which remind me of a warm late summer (maybe early sept.) day, golden, dusty, slightly faded, lots of long dry grass, pretty flowers blooming, etc. I'd love to wear clothes which evoke that memory in me
Every year I have a main color/pattern (usually not on purpose, just my own trend that emerges), last year was bright red and stripes, this year is brown and tartan
All my clothes are color shifting like a razer mouse so i never have to worry about my skin season
Rainbow puke summer
Variety is the spice of life
animal print summer was fun last year though i may have grown out of it; i also recall wearing a lot of black which in hindsight was dumb bc hot
so that instead of having this conversation over and over in general chat we can just point people to this TOTD next time it comes up
idk some people thrive by having rules for everything
leans more towards limitation rather than rule imo. i feel like its a form of looksmaxxing that takes the joy away from fashion in general
i do believe in the idea of rotating color palettes seasonally (to some degree), but like. in the same breath, i don’t think limiting yourself that hard year round is going to be very fun to begin with
Fuck I've never been able to make it work for me
I dunno. Maybe I have mars seasons idk
like my color range is like. olive, mauve, orange, purple and ten shades of blue before we hit neutral tone territory
I thought this thread was what we thought the spring zeitgeist color was going to be...
