Questions about this blazer from Ebay
I’m looking to get a navy blazer on Ebay. I found this one but it’s hard to see the true color because of the lighting

Firstly, would this be a good deal for $50? And secondly, are there any ways to get the retail listing/pictures of the suit to get a better idea of the color in natural lighting?

idk if I'd go for this one for a few reasons. The underarm stains are kinda weird and also black buttons on a navy jacket can make it look more like an orphaned suit jacket than a blazer

what are your goals with this navy blazer / how are you trying to dress? if prep/ivy then I'd say the brass buttons are important
if not prep/ivy then you prob don't want brass buttons but it depends what look you're going for
More of a casual sport coat look
I don’t have any good blazers right now so just looking for a decent all around one. I have a gray one that was like $120 or something
So something versatile that can be worn to a variety of events
I figure navy is probably the best standard blazer color for that
gotcha well a navy blazer could probably fit that bill, as could a brown one in some houndstooth, glen check, or herringbone pattern
I definitely want a brown one at some point too yeah
So for navy blazers you’d recommend non-black buttons
if you like prep/ivy styles then brass buttons for sure
if those are too preppy for your taste then maybe horn, enamel, something that contrasts from the navy

I think they're dark horn but don't go for a pinstripe it's a suit jacket rather than a blazer

what are general thoughts on swapping out the buttons? Like if I find a navy jacket I like but it has black buttons, swapping them out with horn
you could do that, it's not too expensive at a tailor
the issue is that if there's a navy jacket with black buttons the designers are probably intending it as a suit jacket
but if for some reason you find like a hopsack with patch pockets and black buttons you could wear that as a blazer as is or swap the buttons if you want

Hmm alright I’ll keep an eye out, most of the ones im seeing are more suit jacket esque. Do you have any suggestions for search queries that might narrow it down, or brands that have a broader selection of sport coats? Maybe the brands im using are just a lot more formal than I’m looking for

Another approach is to add something like (flannel, hopsack) into your search terms
