This was a huge project, where I attempted to use a lot of features, layer merges, lighting effects, animated models, static models, and elements from multiple scenes across different versions.
So this overview covers some of the practical issues I ran into while making the piece and the workflow generally
Sequencing the moving parts was the hardest bit, and opted against using the layers paths in part because there's only seven of them and you have to compress them to integrate scenes. So a lot of merit to having the animations controllable and timed directly on their own paths.
Being able to layer group them would allow coordinated movement, which would be the most powerful possible arrangement.
Other than that, everything went pretty smoothly (using 2.45). Merging layers and importing scenes worked well overall.
Models did sometimes get lost in that process or become unselectable, (didn't move with the sketch) so that bit needs to be sorted. Animated models didn't merge at all and had to be added as new things. Did have some problems with some of the things made with multimirror and/or the version with the script things.
Might be related to multimirror's copy handling, or could be layer issues in the original sketches.
Sometimes I'd Import scenes animated things made and grouped with the moonsharp tools and they'd become unselectable, or would copy, but then only the original could be moved. So some quirkiness there.
Since I used my custom brushes, possible that may be related to the issue. Merging was powerful and quite flexible, although important to be aware that combined layer limits are a factor. Usually just merged things in the scene I wanted to import and then moved into an empty main layer Generally the slow parts in the process of making the piece involved 1. Sequencing animations 2. Scene merges involving moonsharp/multi-mirror (earlier versions) 3. Anything I had to do in an external tool (model preparation, animation, audio sequencing etc)
