question about loafer sizing
Howdy,
Looking at a pair of AE loafers on eBay. They're a 13D. All the shoes I wear are 13. I got my feet measured at a running store and my feet measured a 12C and a 12.5D. I know loafers are notoriously unforgiving when you get the size wrong.
Should I be okay?

Not an expert on AE sizing, but they will probably be much too big.
I believe AE typically runs large by at least 1/2.
You definitely don't want loafers to be too big. They are unforgiving in that regard.
Alright, so probably shoot more in the 12D range
Maybe even smaller
My Brannock is 9.5 and I have some AE Chelsea boots that are almost too roomy at size 9.
Hmm. Alright so probably gotta shoot for the 11.5 range. Might just buy a trashed pair on eBay for cheap to test the sizing
The Chelsea’s and loafers aren’t on the same last
So would I still be best off aiming for a lower size?
I think many AE loafers are true to size but with loafers it’s always tough
Gotcha. The nearest AE store to me is a bit far. Might just have to risk it on the 13D and see how it goes. Or get something with laces instead. I'll FIO. Thanks for the help
Dont buy loafers online unless you are pretty damn sure they’ll fit well. Its one of those shoes you should really try on before you buy
