Did recoil get reduced with the new 6th anniversary update, or did my aim/recoil suddenly improve after 5yrs straight of playing?

There were no changes made to recoil in the game in general as per the patch notes of version 3.1, @X. You can refer to patch notes for more information. However, there were changes and improvements made to some firearms. You may refer to this information available in the patch notes:
