Crash on playing iris profile after install

I followed several install guides for iris 1.20.4 that all say the same thing. - Make sure Java is up to date - Download the Iris installer from the website - Make sure minecraft is installed and load 1.20.4 to main menu, then close game and launcher - Run Iris installer jar file with java, select 1.20.4 in the dropdown, click install and close when complete - Play minecraft using the new Iris profile Despite redoing all of this at least 5 times I cant escape this error and I dont know why, I've tried moving installation directory but then it fails to create the iris-reserved directory, when i create the folders manually it launches minecraft fine but it does not include the jar files within the folders so launches minecraft without Iris. If i copy the jar files into the manually created folders I get the same error as I did at first. The error log should be included in this message.

It appears that also running the fabric install option in the iris installer and then running the fabric profile instead of the iris profile makes it work properly? None of the guides included doing that, and it seems strange that this would be the way to go. I have access to the shader pack options in video settings though.

Do you have the latest Fabric Api and Sodium? Fabric Api is not Fabric and is a separate mod you need go download

I can try again but I believe I tried that at the time also

Because your current log is complaining about not having stuff, but it's kinda short so am not sure Also what launcher are you using?

I just find it confusing how no guide so far has done anything more than install iris onto a vanilla minecraft version
SKRUBBY SKRUB IN A SHRUB
For client, not server Because Iris is just another mod So it should be: how to install fabric -> how to install fabric mods

Try using the normal fabric loaders
SweMonkey
SweMonkeyOP10mo ago
As I said here, it works
SKRUBBY SKRUB IN A SHRUB
Ohh then what's the issue?
SweMonkey
SweMonkeyOP10mo ago
at least seems to The issue was that the Iris profile I'm told to use does not work, the fabric one that I'm never told about in any guide works
SKRUBBY SKRUB IN A SHRUB
I never use the vanilla mc launcher because of these shenanigans tbh. So am not too well versed in it. Something probably went wrong and there's probably 2 different "instances" Or something went wrong during the iris installer phase Am not sure
SweMonkey
SweMonkeyOP10mo ago
It happens every time I try it, even after reinstalling minecraft I only got the fabric profile after I used the fabric installation option in the iris installer but if it works it works I guess
SKRUBBY SKRUB IN A SHRUB
If you want to avoid this shit I recommend using MultiMC instead tbh Because the default mc launcher just chucks everything into the same place and doesn't keep profiles truly separate which causes very confusing and frustrating behaviour like this. The onlt thing profiles do is keep resource packs and settings separate Yeah just pretend the other profile isn't there
