DH doesn’t load new chunks in single player
I’ve been trying to play distant horizons on my single player world, but it is quite a pain to have to go to all the chunks I want loaded. I’m using the newest alpha version of DH with iris shaders. Is it just that my PC is bad or is it a setting I need to toggle? I have a GTX 1650 and an 8th gen i5 processor, I have 16gb ram

Make sure distant generation is enabled and try increasing the CPU load
ill take a look at my settings and see if those are already on
both are enabled
try increasing the CPU load
its on "I paid for the whole CPU"
Try with just DH installed
Then you can add Iris after you've generated all the chunks
no other mods at all?
iris is not my only mod, my appologies, ill send a list.
as marijn mentioned, try disabling all others mods temporarily to check whether DH works in a minimal environment
if it works, start enabling mods in batches until DH stops working again
i removed every single mod except Fabric API, Distant Horizons, Sodium, and Indium and still have the same issues
send your latest.log (located at
.minecraft/logs/latest.log
)will have to wait for someone more knowledgeable to step in. logs don't have any errors and the mod appears to have loaded correctly
alright, I expect to wait a while so when someone has an answer please ping me :)
Same problem even with just distant horizons
crank up CPU load settings in DH config to at least aggresive, then check CPU usage if it's going bonkers or not (indicating that DH's generating LoDs)
if it does, wait for it to generate, or try flying up y=1000 then see if LoDs generating in realtime or not.
still experiencing the issue, and my CPU is only at 50%
can you try DH stable release and check if its generating?
same thing happens in new versions
Same thing here, my CPU load is about 70% on peak, but chunks just refuse to load
looking a bit better for new chunks in nightly 1.20.2, but gaps that are already there stay
I've also noticed it's only in chunks you havent actually loaded with real chunks yet
im thinking it might have to do with the "overdraw prevention" setting
didnt seem to change much
No overdraw prevention is a thing where LODs stop being rendered when they are close to you
Used so you dont see an LOD outline around things like fences or bamboo
yeah i saw that after tinkering with it
Are no LODs showing up at all?
Could you send a screenshot of what your world looks like atm?
it looks very similar to this
I'll try clearing the databases and send a new screenshot of the nightly build
