Ruined pair of velour leather loafer. Salvageable?

Soo. I have ruined a pair of velour leather loafers by getting acid on one of them and it is now discoloured like it is wet. Is there any way to salvage them or make anything out of them?

Acid?? Yeah those are probably cooked. You could try dying them something like black tho ig

What kind of acid? Lemon juice? Vinegar? Probs fine if either of the above. If something stronger, you could wax them, dye em black, or put acid everywhere else.

👆 if it's not like a biohazard and dangerous for skin contact, I would at least try to salvage them, have some fun with different dyes and products

I meannnnn, if it’s less than like 0.01 M you could probably do it fairly safely lol. I’d let them dry in front of a fan for a day or two, maybe put them in the sun - but yeah, I’d guess that dye may be your best bet there

They are already dry. That is somehow the way they look now

How dry are we talking? Suede can get wet and stay a little damp for pretty long if it’s chillin in a closet or something

If the acid was stronger than above tho, it probably cooked any waxed in there pretty good and/or chemically burned the leather. Also could’ve fucked the dye pretty hard. You could try to condition it first just in case, but if you go to dye em I’d go and use Feibings https://tandyleather.com/products/fiebings-leather-dye?variant=31977466134659

Put some masking tape over the welt and use a wool dauber + a darker colored dye. Could probably get away with a deep brown, navy, or black
