does anyone know why jeans do this in the thigh?
I love these row jeans I’ve had in the back of my closet for a few years, but never wear them due to this court jester/clown pant flare out they do in the thighs. Belt doesn’t help, tried pulling them up from the back to see if it was a back rise issue, it wasn’t. My kapital century denim does this as well but not nearly as bad

They might just need to settle a bit but I assume it's just extra room in teh thigh.
I wouldn't sweat it to be honest, it looks fine
Interesting, yeah this folding really bugs me but I’ll keep wearing them
This is due to having a below the knee taper so they’re snug at the calf but have extra room in the thigh, a straighter fit will just hang cleanly
Gotcha, would it be too much to have a tailor continue the taper line up the thigh?
its really not that bad
Yeah I personally wouldn’t bother
the more you wear it, the soften it get. it wouldn't stuck out like that anymore
relaxed tapered jeans tend to have this issue. Just wear it and wash, it would look better
Ime it’s bc of issues with the back rise. Basically unfixable in denim and ~all of my pairs do this to some degree regardless of cut and taper thru the leg
Damn okay thank you!!
It’s that the back rise is too long for the waist - you can see this bc if you pull the back of the waistband up, the effect vanishes. That said, it will soften and is only noticeable if you look at a person who is standing still, it’s not noticeable when actually moving/ wearing the clothes
it actually doesnt vanish when i pull it up, but ill wash them/keep wearing them
You can check the jeans on blue in green site where they have relaxed tapered, i think the problem looked amplified
I suppose the stiff fabric has one hand in exaggerated it
