does this poplin shirt work style wise like a white OCBD?
Hey folks, I got this white "paper poplin" shirt recently hoping for it to fill a white OCBD hole in my closet. I'm not sure if this fabric and cut are as versatile as a regular white OCBD. I want it function casually/slightly dressy. Hoping to get some second thoughts!

Initial reaction is the fabric looks not textured enough. Not sure what’s happening with the fold/crease by the buttons
That to me is more concerning than the fabric
The fabric is lightweight and somewhat crinkly, I suppose that's why it's giving that creasing?
Hmmm the poplin is definitely giving a pretty formal vibe, that along with the fit of the shirt kinda makes it look like a short dress shirt (which doesn’t really work imo) instead of a flowy casual shirt
Is there a reason why you don’t want to get an Oxford cloth OCBD? I think one of those would be a hair more casual but look better in nearly all applications
ty! It does kind of look like a short dress shirt
Honestly it was on sale and I was hoping it would function like a regular OCBD, but I'm glad I got y'all thoughts on it I will probably hunt for a second hand OCBD instead
Ooo yeah if you’re in the US, eBay has so many nice OCBD’s for sub $20 it’s hard to go wrong
Yee sounds like eBay is the move! ty
yall are driving up the market recommending eBay for OCBDs :keepincool:
fwiw i have a similar poplin shirt that i still keep as a surrogate dress shirt (on laundry day, to wear under sweaters, etc.)
true I suppose that it is still decently versatile, but I don't really wear enough "dress shirts" to warrant it over a more white casual button down
