what file are you downloading?
do you have Java installed on your PC
not sure, dont think so. do u have a link to the download page by any chance?
https://www.java.com/en/download/
then right click the iris installer, go to "open with" and pick Java
if it's not in the "open with" list you'll need to run jarfix
What is Jarfix and how does it help?
Jarfix is a tool that can be used to fix issues where .jar files don't launch, due to their associations being hijacked, on double-click. You can download it from https://johann.loefflmann.net/downloads/jarfix.exe

amazing tysm! , it says "completed" , how do i install it into lunar client? (if u know how to)
for lunar you can't use the installer
it's only for the vanilla launcher
:1_bun_confused: it used to work for me a few months ago 💔
I should say this now, clients aren't recommended to be used, especially with sodium and iris because of the crashes and visual issues that often arise from using them together.
however, if you want sodium and iris on lunar, you need to make sure fabric is installed on it so you can load mods
Modrinth
Sodium - Minecraft Mod
A modern rendering engine for Minecraft which greatly improves performance
Modrinth
Iris Shaders - Minecraft Mod
A modern shaders mod for Minecraft intended to be compatible with existing OptiFine shader packs
thing is i cant find the mods folder either, maybe im just dumb but im used to the old method
And, what is fabric?
fabric is a mod loader
without it, sodium and iris can't be loaded into the game
it's wherever you installed lunar to
then there should be a folder called instances, profiles, installations, something like that
or perhaps there's a "open folder" button somewhere in lunar
i just found out i cant even find the .minecraft folder because i installed lunar right away and never installed minecraft vanilla itself
nevermind
im actually stupid
this u mean, right?
yes. Is that the vanilla launcher's directory?
I did this, then clicked on .minecraft above
does Lunar use the vanilla directory? :thinkies:
I don't understand clients. They make support so difficult
seems Lunar doesn't even have the ability to load fabric mods, so you'll have to play on another launcher
Custom clients sure helped people play modded Minecraft easier, am I right???

:ioa:
why was i able to download it a few months back though, i can get a screenshot. it used to be like a zip file right?
no
iris always comes as a jar file, whether as the installer or the mod file that you manually put in the mods folder
shaderpacks are what are downloaded as zip files
okay so, iris comes in a jar file and shaderpacks in zips.
but i dont have a mods folder
:cry_cat:
I don't know how lunar operates. Again, clients are NOT recommended because they complicate things heavily
yep
i might just leave it there then
and just try with vanilla
server hosts made my life harder 💔
hey quick update, ive tried some things.
i found out i do have fabric mods
and i downloaded the shader pack if im correct
Iris isn’t a shader pack
Iris is a mod

Dayum... That's definitely Arc Flash territory... 😮
just select the Sodium module in lunar client

but i have java installed
Try installing azul zulu
And running it with that
