Question about servers that directly connect to other servers
hello there,
So i am playing on a Server that uses "realms" (different servers) for its playworlds.
so its something like this:
Player
|
Connect
|
REALM 1 <-Connect- HUB -Connect-> REALM 2
|
Connect
|
REALM 3
Now the problem is DH seems to only Save the Data of HUB but when connecting to any of the Realms it does not create a new Server folder and stops functioning even when manually rendering the chunks...
(realms also run on a Reduced Render distance set to 6 or 8 chunks hence why i wanted to use DH for this)
Anyone got any advice as to how i could manage to save the data of the realms?

Enable multiverse support
but where do i do that? cand find it in the config (might very well be blind looking again as we speak)
Ehhh lemme look
It should be in the config
i found this.. so do i just change the server folder name mode to Name_IP_Port and the Similarity percent to 100? (i dont quite understand what that actually means
Advanced options > multiplayer > multiverse required similarity
Oh yeah its the similarity
Id set it to like 0.6 to give it a little room for error
Also you can edit the config ingame if you weren't aware
Oh it says right there, start with a value of 0.2 lol
ye i did that 🙂 i just found it easier to search for it in notepad as sometimes some stuff in configs doesnt display ingame :D. do i have to delete or reconnect back to the server for it to create a new folder and save that data?
Not sure but Id delete your old server LOD data just in case
ok ill try and see how it goes 😛
thank you for the help so far!
Np
ok i tried this but it doesnt seem to work still
however it does save data in a new folder
any clue why? or how i could fix this? 😮
(i do have console and file access if theres changes needed to be done to the servers config or what not)
tried around some more with the config but couldnt get it to work unfortunately.
ok additionally to it not working in the realms it also stops working on the hub whenever i switch back from realm to hub
anyone got a clue as to why?
@James Seibel (GMT-6) (sorry for the ping just wanna highlight this in case it "goes missing" because of new thready)
Everything seems to be working about as expected.
Unfortunately the multiverse setting is a bit finicky and only works for certain worlds. If you have levels that have very similar or possibly changing chunks it will break down.
ah okay ty well we are not really using multiverse to connect between realms so that might also be a reason haha
like its not different dimensions but different servers alltogether
like we are routing players through a proxy to a another server
Yeah you'd be better off just connecting to the different servers through MC.
DH has no way of knowing what server you're connected to otherwise.
rip i cant cuz we dont allow direct connections haha... tho could i not save the server with a name in the server list and rename the file to that? or does it break because i dont go back to the main menu when connecting?
You'd have to leave back to the main menu
ah
sadge haha but good to know! thank you for that info!! 😄
ok i managed to fix it and it works now 😄 problem was we use a mod called "forward-Forge-Client-Reset-Packet" which clears your packets so you dont have to go to the main menu and reconnect to the main server. i removed that and now it kicks me back to the main menu and when i reconnect to the server i am in the realm and now it saves it... i just have to verify if it overwrites the different saved LODs or not
but this suggests it doesnt correct?
Having two folders in CI/Overworld/ means DH thinks you are still in the same server.
Although it at least knows you are in two different levels.
well it being the same server is kinda correct as i join the same server again (according to the list) but the proxy routes me to another server (i learned that we do it this way like 20 minutes ago lmao)
