Expected behavior, increasing your vertical quality may help reduce the affect
Interestingly Turing up vertical by itself made it much worse, I ended up using the extreme preset and it looked good
Anything lower than extreme horizontal quality makes the floating islands look really bad
do you set your transparency to Fake by any chance?
try changing them to off/completed
