New Update big bug - can't load
Hello everyone
I've used now Iris&Sodium since some weeks/month and was very happy about it but there is some problems...
Thirst, I've tried to do the update with the universel .Jar from the official website and every time trying to install... well... it doesn't do anything... So I've tried to do it manually myself and what a big mistake!...
Just after changing the Iris&Sodium.jar version I had into the iris-reserved folder for the newest and tried to launch it... well, I had the error message I showing you there... So I tried to unistall every mods, ressource packs and so on but still the same...
So I tried to uninstall totaly Minecraft...
Just re-installed it (so totaly new game), installed Iris&Sodium (always from the universal .jar from the official website) and still exactly the same error message...

I recommend installing fabric and putting sodium and Iris in the mods folder
Do exactly what you told, exactly same error message.
Did you launch the game with fabric loader?
Doesn't use fabric, don't want to use it. I played for weeks/month with Iris&Sodium launcher and it was more than great, don't want to come back...
Vanilla = 120fps (or more)
With Fabric = 15/20 fps
With Optifine = 1/2 fps
With Iris&Sodium = 40/60 fps
Delete your Iris installation from the versions folder and run the installer again
Again?! I already done that!
So then my recommendation would be to use prism launcher
There you can make a fabric installation and install Iris and sodium to the mods folder natively through the launcher
Sorry but I don't understand... Why does have I to use a launcher for another launcher to bypass a launcher... it's a little bit crazy... Isn't the Iris&Sodium launcher made to be... a launcher?... Just to remember... I used Iris&Sodium for weeks/month and it worked very well until I tried to change for the update...
Doesn't use fabric, don't want to use it. I played for weeks/month with Iris&Sodium launcher and it was more than great, don't want to come back...The thing is that Iris and Sodium are Fabric mods. The only difference is that the Iris Installer creates a profile and version of Fabric Loader with only Iris and Sodium (if you select the "Iris Install" installation type).
Isn't the Iris&Sodium launcher made to be... a launcher? No. The Iris Installer is an installer. It creates a profile and version in Minecraft Launcher. As Slooshie said, the only solution is to use the Fabric Installer to get a normal profile and version of Fabric Loader. You can then put Sodium and Iris in your mods folder. Or you could switch launchers. But yes, Iris needs to update Fabric Loader. Here's a report I found: https://github.com/IrisShaders/Iris-Installer/issues/37 And as you can see there's not much of a difference between Iris's fork and upstream. All it does is set the mods folder to iris-reserved: https://github.com/IrisShaders/iris-loader
Okay thanks for your answers... I appreciate it and hope that the dev team will do something because even if you have other solutions, it doesn't help me at all and let me feel here like I'm just not eared...
it doesn't help me at allWhat do you mean? What issues do you face when you use the Fabric Installer?
As I said here, I'm one of those that it seems my computer face to difficulties with the game modded, I need to found other solutions and found in Iris&Sodium profil a very very good one and for now without it, I have to play "full vanilla" or... I don't know... it's seems that i'm not the only one because i've arleady see same issues and I've search a lot about it...
So in resume, it's not really possible to me to play with modded minecraft with my computer using usual API (Optifine, Fabric, Forge)...
I'm trying to use prism as @Slooshie said (thanks too) but it's really hard to me... really hard, as if... you know, you are used to paint and we give you photoshop... Tutorial on youtube are hard too because people seems to don't understand it's more complicated to use a thing you don't know at all than when you use it every day...
So after 1 hour and half (or so) to try understanding prism, it seems to be working without any performance losses, so thank you for the advice 🙏 but that made me question so on the utility of the Iris&Sodium profil now...
im also getting this error msg
what did you have difficulty with?
it's an issue. nothing you can do except to just use fabric installer and then install sodium and iris
again iris and sodium ARE fabric mods. the iris installer just installs it all for you
i still have no idea how to fix this
You can't unless you use Fabric API and Iris and Sodium as mods ore other ways
Now I don't have problems but it was a really hard time to me... Thanks anyway
i just told you. iris installer is currently borked.
what you can do is run the fabric installer. download iris and sodium and put them in your mods folder.
yeah but what parts did you struggle with? the prism folks might appreciate the feedback
i can file it for you
That makes zero sense. If you install „only“ iris and sodium, it just installs fabric and renames it to iris and sodium. So you are always using fabric. Even if you didn’t notice.
I fixed it
redownload the Iris Installer
@fwood @Hyl' @Deleted User
i fixed it also
Thanks 🙏✨
Thanks but I think it's useless... As I said, the launcher is very useful but... Too much for "little" users as me... I really just need too add mods/ressource and shadder packs, change the ram allocated and that's all... Without any help from tutorial on YouTube, I wouldn't be able to make it... It's not intuitive at all for Newbies
Zero sense to you, I Can understand but the fact are here ... I was very disapointed when I discover too that I can't use Optifine too and it make no sense when older and lesser computers than mine make it work but still, it's a fact
?
yeah I didn't understand any of that either
what Cristelknight what saying is that sodium and iris use the fabric mod loader no matter if you do an iris install or fabric install. In iris install, it just makes a separate folder that acts as the mods folder where sodium and iris are
Thanks for fixing.
Now I can play it.
Sorry to repeat myslef but that was the fact I had on my computer and after research I've done, it seems that we are a few and we don't know why but the fact are there:
Vanilla = 120fps (or more)
With Fabric = 15/20 fps
With Optifine = 1/2 fps
With Iris&Sodium = 40/60 fps
So Optifine and Fabric are unplayable as they are but it was good with Iris&Sodium profil...
I'm not dev' nor computer engineer so I can't tell you why but that was what I had...
For another exemple totaly different but allmost picturing it, I've tried to play Grounded with my computer and as some few people, I can't play at all multiplayer even if I have no problems with other games... Seems to be a server connection issue, told directly to the dev that said doesn't understand AT all...
Informatics... Some times, you don't know why, it's reacti'g totaly different from what you are waiting... That's why there is bugs report...
What specs does your pc have? And how do you have more fps in vanilla? Do you use shaders and then you have 40/60 fps?
For the spec: Windows 11 X64, intel core I7-11800H, 2,30GHZ, 16 GO RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
For the Vanilla, it's from scratch = without any mods/shadder/ressource packs
For the API, it's the result using only the shadder without any other mods/ressource packs
Obviously if you add a shader, performance will be decreased.
Obviously but normaly, not to the point that Minecraft isn't playable at all
It depends the shader that you use and his config
And yes, it is possible.
I can run Minecraft at 5 fps with my 6700xt if I want.
I have a 3090 and when using shaders on a 4K screen i also sometimes get 40/60. it’s normal. And that is without a heavy shader/resourcepack
